MK 10 I grabbed dead near release then ended up buying a later more character filled version.... this time I have held off mk 11 waiting to either get it cheap or to just get the obvious later full edition.... I am seriously thinking of getting this ultimate version for the xbox x on release as it just looks so darn cool.

Just be prepared to have to deal with menus upon menus of loot boxes, shops and multiple in-game currencies, etc.

It's so sad. The actual gameplay is brilliantly accessible and fun but the predatory nature of the devs and Warner Bros seeps into every facet of the game. I wish WB would remove it all like they did LotR2 but I can't see it happening.

I hope they bring back the MK: Shaolin Monks series next, that was a really good game and it’s a shame it’s never been remade/remastered/got a sequel

Against my better judgement, I just bought the Ultimate Edition to play on the PS5.

I'm determined to ignore all the microtransactions and cosmetic garbage and just focus on becoming good at the game. I've been reading and watching a lot of the theory behind becoming a good player so I'm hoping I can stick with it and start winning some online matches.

I love fighting games but I've never pushed myself to become really good. The furthest I ever got was with SFV where I really felt like I was getting a good handle on things and was actually starting to win matches online. But then other things came along and it got left behind.

For me though, I think the core gameplay of Mortal Kombat has surpassed Street Fighter in every way that matters to me.

If anyone fancies some friendly matches, hit me up and we can train together :)

Do the MTX get in the way of all you want to do is play the single player stuff and the odd local 2 player fight?

So long as you don't care about unlocking all the costumes and equipment you should be okay. If you literally just want to pick a character and fight you should be able to ignore it all.

When I first played on release, I was playing to unlock collectibles which was a bad mistake. The game is such an unfair grind in that regard and really predatory.

This time I'll be ignoring all of that and playing to actually fight and improve as a player. In my opinion, the actual combat is one of the best fighters I've ever played.

Gameplay wise, I need to get into the habit of blocking. I never used to use it in MK because I thought chip damage wasn't worth taking but I've been watching some professional matches and they block as much as possible.

I got my Xbox X version this morning it cost me 32quid but I have a tiny issue there's a code in the box for a time warriors skin pack and the code doesn't work despite coming out of a sealed box.

Seems like the Switch version of the Ultimate Edition is just a code in a box, blooming joke, I hate when developers do that.
Will be getting the PS4 version.

After the mess I had with the Xbox disc version a code might not be to bad... I have made this video to moan and maybe help others, it has put me off the game for a bit

Even though I bought the Ultimate Edition through the PS4 it isn't registering on my account. I can download everything except for the most recent DLC so clearly something has gone wrong.

Just emailed Sony customer services so hopefully they can refund my order

Finally managed to download everything even though it still thinks I haven't bought the all in one package so I got in an hour's playtime today.

The tutorial is hands down the best tutorial in a fighting game ever. It starts with the basics and then gets really advanced when you're ready but it actually explains all the mechanics in a way that makes sense. I found the tutorial on frame data to be genuinely interesting and it felt like I finally understood something that always felt alien.

And they also have individual tutorials for every single character which is going to be amazing for learning combos and techniques when I decide who I want to use as a main.
