The Switch version is a really impressive port, with the core gameplay running as per the other versions. The graphics have been downgraded but the overall effect appears to be very similar.

I'm kinda surprised as - holding my hand up! - I'd expected the game to be poor on Switch. It's great to see that it has turned out well.

This is so, so good on PS4. Load times are a pain but other than that, one of the best fighters I've ever played.

I've not dipped into the Tower mode yet and the microtransaction stuff, after receiving a bit of heat online, seems to have been rectified by the developer in the form of every player being given enough ingame currency to move forward. Still gooseberry fool though.

I've been playing a little bit of it, and so far I definitely feel like I'm getting too old for this gooseberry fool.

The timing windows for special moves and combos are ridiculously small, meaning that more often than not I miss the move I've tried to do because I'm just not getting the sequence done in time. Personally I think it could be just a touch more forgiving in that respect.

That said what I've played of it so far I've enjoyed. Done a little bit of the story mode and... well.. Mortal Kombat has story now? Last MK game I put any real time into was the SNES port of the original. I've always been a Street Fighter fan predominantly, but I've dipped into MK briefly a couple of times. The good reviews prompted me to give this one a shot.

Looking forward to hopefully getting a bit better at the game. Once I've done the story mode, what's the main mode? Or rather, what's the equivalent of an "Arcade" mode? Is it the Klassic Towers?

Ha this is what I thought, I did all the training modes, and perfect blocking into a move was causing me no end of trouble until I realised that MK is all strings, so you just bang it in. Its really different from Street Fighter in that regard. So far that is all I have done completed all the training, and next up is the story mode for me. Yeah the towers appear to be a bit like a standard Arcade Ladder.

Always found the new NR MKs really clunky, they have done a great job improving that. Need to work out a main now and see what I can do

According to a popular post on the PlayStation 4 Reddit, it would cost $6,440 to purchase every skin in Mortal Kombat 11 with premium currency instead of winning them as challenge rewards or unlocking them in the game’s Krypt. This math adds up, in theory, but the facts don’t. You can’t use real money to unlock everything in Mortal Kombat 11. There is no convenient way to buy your way out of the grind.

There was a bug still working last night where if you selected the crypt from the main menu and you held down X and didn't let go the first thing you walked into you'd unlock for free even you hadn't completed preset requirements, so I now have every head on the pikes without having to fatality every character 50 times. Which is nice.

There was a patched dropped last night before I went to bed though so I would imagine that fixed it, pretty sure that would of been a priority for netherrelm. Can't have folk getting stuff for free.

My switch pre-order has arrived. Was supposed to include Shao Khan but there’s no code in the box or parcel. Is it just an in game unlock are am I missing a code slip?

Seen a tweet from Ed Boon saying the Switch version is to receive an update either tomorrow or early next week to make the Switch parallel to the other consoles, hopefully this means the Kyrpt progression,

Picked up the Switch version at the weekend and I must admit it's a great version of the game.
The fighting is smooth and great in motion, all the modes that are in the other versions are here and there's plenty of content.
There are some cut backs that had to be made, some of the characters most notably the human ones look a little off and the hair is strange, but it's not that noticeable once in combat. The Krypt on the other hand, jeez it looks like something from the N64 with loads of fog and crappy textures.
Still happy with the game, I'll probably get it on the PS4 once the Komplete version with all the DLC drops.

Excellent price.

I've barely played this since release. The core fighting mechanics are great but everything else is just an advert for microtransactions and DLC. It's so shameless and completely kills the game. It actually made me mentally uncomfortable playing it. Like I couldn't enjoy any of it because the whole thing felt soulless and predatory.

It was my biggest disappointment of last year.

Wait, Rambo is in this now?!

I'd love to give it another try but the way the whole game is designed around loot boxes and microtransactions completely turns me off. Gutting really.

The UI and the monetisation is the most gruesome thing about MK these days. Utterly ruined the game.

I had a funny feeling a next gen version would come out, (the same happend with the first Injustice), will probably nab it if I get a PS5 for the new characters and nicer graphics as I've only got the Switch version and the incredibly huge install size means I haven't played it quite as much as I want to.

Isn't Arnie already in the game? Guess we'll get Terminator vs Rambo which is pretty cool.
