Hello Battlefield™ V players, and welcome to our first update of 2019!

As part of Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes, we’re kicking off the year with Squad Conquest which is an intense version of Conquest that enables more tactical gameplay between two teams of 16 players on the Arras, Rotterdam, and Hamada maps.

Additionally, we’re adding four new weapons which can be unlocked with the Weekly Challenges that will be made available during Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes.

We’ve also made several changes and fixes based on feedback from the Battlefield™ community. Below, we’ll summarize the most noteworthy changes.

Note that there’s much more coming with Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes, including the return of Rush mode, a new Grand Operation, and more. Additional experiences will be delivered in future updates as the Chapter progresses.

Squad Conquest
A tighter and more intense version of Conquest, in Squad Conquest two squads per team battle it out over smaller, more tactical layouts of three existing maps: Arras, Hamada, and Rotterdam. These maps all feature 16 players on two teams, three flags, spawning restricted to HQs, and limited access to vehicles. Clear lanes and conservative combat areas allow players to predict where enemies are coming from, where they need to defend, and how to subvert enemy movement. Learn more about Squad Conquest - https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/ba ... d-conquest

New Weapons
These are some of the weapons that will be obtainable through the Weekly Challenges in January and February:

Zk-383 SMG (Medic class)
Modele 1944 semi-automatic rifle (Assault class)
M1922 MMG (Support class)

Time to Death and Death Experience Fixes

We’ve made a number of changes in these areas:

The name of the enemy that has killed a player is now shown in the game world when the player has died. This highlights the killer and helps players understand who killed them and from where, especially in crowded situations.
The death experience has improved with the addition of a camera that now follows and zooms towards the killer. This will allow players to understand what killed them and the position of the killer.
The accuracy of the visual representation of incoming bullets for other players has been improved. Tracers should now properly appear to consistently appear from the shooter and should be clearer when the victim is looking directly at the shooter.
An issue was fixed with the UI directional damage indicator that delayed the indication of damage to the victim.
Tweaks were made to the UI directional damage indicator to more accurately point towards the enemy damaging the player.

See you on the battlefield!

JANUARY 17 – JANUARY 30
NEW MODE: SQUAD CONQUEST
Work with your squad in a fast-paced, intense take on Conquest available for a limited time on the Rotterdam, Arras, and Hamada maps. In this 8-versus-8 mode, two pairs of opposing squads compete to capture and hold flags until one team runs out of respawn tickets. Defenders start with control of all the flags, but losing flag control means no more respawns – and if all players are wiped out, they’ll lose.

STARTING JANUARY 17
NEW WEAPONS AND VEHICLES
Wield powerful weapons like the Zk-383 submachine gun, the Modele 1944 semi-automatic rifle, and the M1922 MMG. Obliterate enemy armor with Tank Hunter vehicles and enjoy two fresh Reinforcements for Squad Leaders to call in: the Sector Artillery and the Smoke Barrage.

January 17 – January 30
A FEW GOOD SOLDIERS
Unlock Weekly Challenge rewards by mastering the intense 8-vs-8 matches of the new Squad Conquest mode. Act fast, it’s only available for a limited time.

Week 1 Reward: Zk-383 submachine gun (Medic class).
Week 2 Reward: Modele 1944 semi-automatic rifle (Assault class).

January 31 – February 13
HOLD THE LINE
Learn to maintain control of your hard-earned objectives and play defensively in Breakthrough and Frontlines modes.
Week 3 Reward: Final Countdown headgear.
Week 4 Reward: M1922 MMG (Support class).

More Chapter 2 Events are coming - stay tuned for details.

FEBRUARY
PLAY CO-OP IN COMBINED ARMS
Combined Arms is the Battlefield V co-op experience, where you can improve your skills before taking on multiplayer. In your first Combined Arms endeavor, you’ll attempt a surgical strike on a single objective in eight missions.

STARTING FEBRUARY 21
NEW GRAND OPERATION
Set on the Panzerstorm and Arras maps, a new Grand Operation is coming with Chapter 2. On the French and Belgian countryside, give it your all in Airborne, Breakthrough, and – for the first time in a Grand Operation – Rush mode.

MARCH 7 – MARCH 20
NEW MODE: RUSH
A classic mode returns for a limited time. In Rush, your objective depends on whether you’re on the attacking or defending side. Attackers have a limited amount of respawn tickets and need to arm two bombs before the respawns run out. Defenders need to stop this explosive plan. Play Rush on Twisted Steel, Narvik, and Devastation.

I've been playing the new Squad Conquest and strawberry floating hell the player base are even worse than normal conquest.

There's 2 teams on 4 per side and I was expecting this to mean people may stick together into fireteams of 4 but nope in 90% of games they scatter and we get strawberry floating murdered by teams that do stick together. I think I've played 15 games and won about 3 when I had teams that didn't scatter.

If you want wins and have a 4 people go into Squad Conquest and you can clean house because nobody communicates and even if someone does set a waypoint nobody cares. I have the bonus medic weapon and it's amazing so I think I'll just give up now :slol: .

strawberry floating amazing :slol: :fp: .

Been loving Squad Conquest, got the gun yesterday from this weeks task. Maybe I've been lucky but not been as bad as Peter squad-wise, probably 50% decent squads and won more than I've lost.

Most of my games end up with my team losing by about 100 points because my team refuses to use teamwork and thus can't revive because their all strawberry floating miles away from each other :slol: . It's kind of amazing to watch sometimes as no matter how much they get pounded on they don't even try and form up and when they do spawn on each other it's like they think sticking together will give them a horrible disease.

I'd shoot them in the back of the head if I could but friendly fire is off :( .

Just won 5 out of 5. Cleared all 4 current assignments as well 8-) Only had 1 person speaking in the last game but he was useless to me.

One thing that really really pisses me off is that the pick up weapon button is the same as revive so I'll run up to people to revive them and end up changing guns :fp: . This not only means I can end up with a sniper rifle I can't use (I'm so gooseberry fool at sniping I just don't bother even trying any more as unless someone is 5 feet away and standing perfectly still I'm going to miss) it takes time and I then have to revive them and I've been killed so many times during this gun juggling it's beyond a joke.

I really need a way to change the button for picking up weapons :x .

Yeah it's definitely a problem, They should change revive to 'holding' the X button so you don't pick up weapons.

Out Tuesday morning -

Battlefield V Tides of War Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes – Update #2

Hello Battlefield™ V players, and welcome to the second January update!

Following the update earlier in January, this release introduces the Sturmgeschutz IV vehicle – an Axis tank (or assault gun, technically) well equipped for self-defense, with a top gunner position and a remotely controlled machinegun turret that can be operated safely from within the tank.

Unlock the Sturmgeschutz IV by completing the Weekly Challenge of the third Chapter Event of Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes.

More functionality is being added to our Practice Range, many improvements are coming to the Panzerstorm map and, as always, so are several bug fixes. We’ve also made several changes based upon the feedback and issue reports from the Battlefield™ community.

Full 11 pages of patch notes here - http://eaassets-a.akamaihd.net/dice-com ... _FINAL.pdf

My highlights -

Panzerstorm Map Updates - Extended the F point, more routes for Infantry.

Footsteps volume lowered.

Made multiple bipod deploy detection improvements on different surfaces that would previously be ignored or tend to easily not connect.

Transitioning to prone is no longer possible if there is not enough space to fit the player. This means that players will no longer attempt to prone if there isn’t enough space to begin with. The feature is currently missing messaging that will come into a later patch.

General vaulting improvements.

Fixed an issue where the revive icons seen above downed friendlies would not deplete preventing players from understanding the time left for a revive.

A substantial system improvement in AA behavior has been made to make the experience for shooting at airplanes more consistent.

Cancelling an armed grenade can now be done by either pressing reload or any of the inventory switch buttons.

Aiming Down Sight (ADS) animations with all weapons and all sights have been revamped to better reflect the correct point of aim while strafing and walking.

Fixed an issue where players could be notified that their “deploy point is no longer available” when attempting to spawn.

When playing Conquest, players can now capture flags while standing on the roof of buildings that are within the capture radius.

The heal button now gets highlighted when the player should use a health pack.

In Squad Conquest, players will now be able to give objective orders, even if the flags are in a neutral state.

Tides of War: Only nodes completed prior to the end of round should be shown, and not nodes that have been previously completed in other past rounds.

XB1/PS4 - The “chat” window is once again visible.

I need to win a game of frontlines for this weeks mission and I keep being put on teams being completely dominated  .
I know I'm not the greatest player but it doesn't seem to matter if I do well or suck I just end up on teams being stomped on :fp: .
I can revive people like crazy and nothing helps.

My win/lose rating is getting completely strawberry floated :slol: .

BATTLEFIELD V TIDES OF WAR CHAPTER 2: LIGHTNING STRIKES UPDATE #3 NOTES

We’re adding Combined Arms to the mix along with various tweaks and fixes.

Hello Battlefield™ V players, and welcome to the latest update!

This article will summarize the most noteworthy changes, but you can read the full update notes for a deep-dive.

The update adds four-player co-op to Battlefield V with Combined Arms. This experience lets you bring friends to challenge AI enemies and improve your skills before jumping into multiplayer. You can play solo or in a squad with up to three friends and tackle eight PvE missions set behind enemy lines, with four different objectives across four maps.

Another part of the update, but one not available just yet, is the return of a fan-favorite multiplayer mode: Rush. Arriving on March 7, Rush will appear for a limited time during Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes.

We’re also focusing on improving the existing Battlefield V gameplay experience with this update. Netcode issues are being targeted, as well as general quality of life improvements on maps and ground vehicles.

See you on the battlefield!

I like the look of this, especially since the gun play of BF suits me down to the ground. The 'circle' of fire looks like it'll insta kill anyone that touches it which could be weird.

I'm most likely going to play Firestorm once and realise being gooseberry fool at shooting is really not going to help and then stop playing and just go back to good old conquest where I can run about as a batshit crazy medic who occasionally takes a shot at people.

Being in the top 5 on the leader board with a -10 KD? That's just the ticket  .
It's time to spam out those health kits and revives  .

That BR looks right up my street, it's a cinematic trailer sure but Jackfrags broke down the trailer (plus he's played it) and I has the potential to be excellent, far better than blops 4's BR anyway.
