PostRe: Battlefield V - Operation Underground out now. War In The Pacific Reveal on Wednesday.
by Monkey Man » Wed Oct 23, 2019 1:44 pm

Invade the most iconic battlefields of the Pacific theater as U.S. and Japanese forces enter the fray in Battlefield V’s War in the Pacific. Available as a free update to Battlefield V on October 31.

- Iwo Jima & Pacific Storm (BF4 fans will see shades of the classic map Paracel Storm in the world of possibilities offered through Pacific Storm’s layout.) out 31st Oct.
- Wake Island out in December.

Image

- U.S. Armed Forces or the Imperial Japanese Army.
- M1 Garand when the Chapter launches, along with three other main weapons.
- As the Tides of War continue, Chapter 5 will bring the M3 Grease Gun, Nambu Type 2A, Type 97 LMG, and M1918 A2, too. Handed out as a Chapter Reward, the Jungle Carbine can be added to your arsenal, too – the same goes for the Type 94 and the Model 27 sidearms. Finally, Tides of War will expand the Assault class’s arsenal with an explosive gadget: the tank-busting Lunge Mine.
- 2 new Battle Pickups, meaning it needs to be found on the battlefield to be equipped. Katana & Flamethrower.

- M4 Sherman tank for the U.S. side & Type 97 for the Japanese.
- Immense firepower is one thing. But getting from A to B is crucial to PTFO, too. The agile LVT and Ka-Mi Light Amphibious Tanks take you across both land and sea, granting many new strategic options for securing your objectives. The Dinghy is another fast (but more vulnerable) way to get across water. When you need quick access to the action – or a hasty escape – jump into the MB Jeep or the Type 95 car.
- Your U.S. Company will be able to pilot the F4U Corsair, which comes in both a Fighter and Bomber variant. Pacific air space will also be occupied by the Japanese Zero Fighter, which comes in the same two variants.
- As for Reinforcements, the U.S. side can unleash the Sherman Calliope, a Rocket Barrage Tank and the Japaese have a KI-147 I-Go rocket being the JB-2 equivalent – along with a Rocket Barrage Tank similar to the Sherman Calliope.

Experience the reimagination of Battlefield’s most iconic map, Wake Island - a free update for all Battlefield V players available December 12.

Deploy on this horseshoe-shaped classic where American and Japanese forces fight for control over land, air, and sea.

Get up-close, attack straight on, or flank the enemy using amphibious vehicles. Whether you're invading or defending, the open sandbox design offers multiple approaches to any situation.

Welcome back to the battlefield that started it all. Welcome back to Wake Island.

I'm going to be honest here and say that all I want from the Battlefield games is a next gen remake of Battlefield 4.
The game already has pretty solid graphics and a 4K 60fps version would just be incredible.

Being an engineer for Stu as he pilots a little bird in 4K about that Island map with the hotel that collapses (as long as they make sure it doesn't tank the fps this time :slol: ) or the stormy map with dolby atmos sound effects could make for a rather intense game.

Community Games - DICE's own term for custom servers - will go live in Battlefield 5 today, Monday 9th December, 2019.

In a recent community update, DICE confirmed players will be able to launch 16, 32, and 64-player servers with the map and mode of your choosing, including time-limited modes that are presently "out of rotation" (that said, Grind and Fortress won't be available, as these "are technically built as variants of existing modes" and therefore won't be available in Community Games yet).

"Community Games are specifically designed for players who want to create a more personal experience in Battlefield V," wrote community manager, Jeff Braddock. "Whether you are a content creator that wants their own space to create great stories, or you simply want to create a playlist of your favourite maps for you and your friends, this feature has something for everyone."

As well as "protect[ing] your experience with a password", server admins can kick and ban to help you "build a happy community of players".

However, DICE also admitted it had to "rescope this feature" and amend "what is included in the first release of Community Games", but says the team will be "back in the New Year with more information on the continued work of Community Games". It also noted that password-protected servers will not feature any form of progression, and while all other servers will allow Soldier progression, Tides of War activities and Chapter Rank XP will sadly not be earnable through Community Games.

As for what's still to come? DICE includes a lengthy list of what won't be available, which includes custom names, descriptions, friendly-fire, regenerative health, or even control what classes are available.

Head into close-quarter Pacific battles with Battlefield V Chapter 6: Into the Jungle, coming February 6. As the fight moves into the thick and treacherous vegetation of Solomon Islands, the outcome is uncertain for both sides.

Deploy on a fresh map, use new weapons and gadgets, and fight tooth and nail as the U.S. and Japanese forces collide.

As you are aware, the current Battlefield V Chapter, Into the Jungle, wraps up on April 29. As we look to the future, we will release one more standalone update this summer that brings with it some new content, weapons, and game tweaks. We are targeting June for this update. We’re still tackling the challenges from working from home and will let you know how things progress for us over the next month.

Sounds like the final update.

I expect Battlefield 6 to be announced soon.
I would really, really like it to be a next gen only remake of Battlefield 4 as I think those maps, vehicles and the fast paced gameplay with vastly improved 4k 60 graphics could be pretty special.

Their earnings call suggested a late 2021 release for the next BF game but that was pre-covid so who knows. Probably announced "E32021" time.

Battlefield V - Summer Update

Today we’re informing you here of what to expect when the Summer Update goes live tomorrow morning.

It’s a content-heavy update that adds two new maps, nine new weapons, six new vehicles, five new gadgets, and three new types of grenades.

The first of the two maps is the all-new Al Marj Encampment. Set in Libya, this is an infantry-only map, where you can expect both close-quarter fights and ranged combat depending on where you are on the battlefield. It’s 64 players on Conquest and Breakthrough, with additional configurations available on Squad Conquest and Team Deathmatch.

The second map is a redesigned and expanded Provence. The play area has been extended to include the farm land, and areas around the outskirts of town, bringing tanks into this battlefield on 64-player Conquest, and Breakthrough.

Both of these maps feature the U.S. and German armies as the two playable factions, with additional changes having also been made to Twisted Steel and Panzerstorm. We’ll be following up with a similar adjustment on Al Sundan later this month; in the interim this map won’t feature in rotations while we make these changes. Twisted Steel and Panzerstorm will otherwise continue to operate as UK and German factions on Grand Operations and won’t be adjusted in this mode.

To further support these faction changes, new vehicles have been added to the U.S. faction, and we’ve increased the number of U.S. soldier characters by 14, with 2 additional soldier characters also being added to Japan.

In the full Update Notes below, I’ve listed out all of the new weapons, gadgets, and grenades being added in this update. Players who download and login to Battlefield V throughout the next few weeks will receive these items as login rewards, which you’ll be able to accept from the Armory, and equip via the Company. Later in June, these items will revert to the Company for purchase with Company Coin, for anyone who wasn’t able to login and claim the items during this time.

The update goes live tomorrow morning across all platforms starting at 07:00 UTC and I’ll keep you updated via the usual channels on its rollout.

Maps & Modes
New Maps:

Al Marj Encampment (Conquest, Breakthrough, TDM, Squad Conquest).
Provence (Conquest, Breakthrough, TDM, Squad Conquest).
Additional Changes:

Aerodrome - Removed the MG turret that was placed below the ground at the edge of the map.
Aerodrome - Removed the stationary weapon fortification that was placed into the ground near Sector F.
Al Sundan - This map has temporarily been removed from rotation whilst we address an issue with incorrect VO, following a change to the playable factions on this map. It will be returned to all rotations pending a Hotfix that we’ll be releasing as soon as possible.
Marita - Fixed a hole in the wall by Zervos Farm which could be exploited.
Panzerstorm - All standard modes now feature U.S. vs. Germany (except Grand Operations).
Panzerstorm - German Army is now set as the defending force.
Twisted Steel - All standard modes now feature U.S. vs. Germany (except Grand Operations).
Twisted Steel - Outpost - Fixed the floating barrels and barbed wire near Radio Tower A.
Twisted Steel - Outpost - Players should no longer be able to get stuck between the barrels and the bridge strut near tower D.
Underground - Fixed an exploit that could disable smoke effects.
Combined Arms - Fixed the missing tab on the end of round screen.
Firestorm - Players will no longer enter a bleed out state when playing solo mode.
Practice Range - Added the missing Panzerbüchse 39 & Boys AT Rifle bi-pod when using them on the range.

Provence

Weapons & Gadgets
New Weapons:

Sjögren Shotgun (Support)
Chauchat (Support)
M3 Infrared (Recon)
K31/43 (Recon)
Welgun (Medic)
M1941 Johnson (Assault)
PPK/PPK Suppressed (all classes)
M1911 Suppressed (all classes)
Welrod (all classes)
New Gadgets:

Doppel-Schuss (Recon)
RMN 50 Grenade Launcher (Recon)
Pistol Flamethrower (Assault)
Shaped Charge (Support)
Kampfpistole (Support)
New Grenades:

Firecracker Grenade (all classes)
Demolition Grenade (all classes)
Type 99 Mine (all classes)
Additional Changes:

Add-on Grenade Launchers for the Tromboncino and M1 Garand now try to switch to the main ammo type instead of the pistol when the player runs out of ammo. If no primary weapon ammo is available, a switch will be made to the pistol as normal. We think that this will lead to a better combat flow when the player ends up in these scenarios.
The Breda M1935 PG’s fire switching sound can now be heard.
Fixed a bug where smoke grenades would sometimes detonate in different positions for different clients, or not detonate at all.
Unified the impact grenade's trajectory with the other frag grenades for improved consistency of grenade throws.
Slightly increased the time an impact grenade must travel, the amount it bounces off a surface, and detonation delay after bouncing. This won't substantially change the gameplay of the grenade, but will improve the pucker factor of having one of these thrown at you.
Fixed a bug with the Lunge Mine which would cause another knockback, when it had been selected again after a previous use.
Vehicles
New Vehicles:

A-20 bomber (U.S. Faction)
P-70 Night Fighter (U.S. Faction)
P-51D fighter plane (U.S. Faction)
P-51K fighter plane (U.S. Faction)
M8 Greyhound (U.S. Faction)
Puma Armored Car (German Faction)
Additional Changes:

Improved the transition to ragdoll when players die in a vehicle and made it so the vehicle/wreck is followed for the victim to make it a more interesting experience.
Fixed an issue with the Hachi that was causing it not to steer as well as intended when moving at higher speeds.
Smoke screen weapons on tanks and airplanes now properly block spots, and name tags.
Fixed a bug that would cause the vehicle UI to show an incorrect position of the cannon, if the player had used it, and then switched seats.
AA guns now suppress on the same level as other vehicle MGs.
Planes

500lb bombs now have lowered blast damage, and increased irreparable damage to make it a two-pass kill.
BF-109 G2

Specialization tree changes to compete with P51K.
Start loadout includes spotting flares and 2x50kg bombs.
Engine or gun upgrade at tier 1.
Defensive options or finned barrels at tier 2.
Ground attack options or leading edge for tier 3.
Finally some less critical upgrades for tier 4.
BF-109 G6

Specialization tree changes to compete with P51D.
Start loadout includes nitrous, smoke, and 2x rockets.
Explosion protection or gun upgrade at tier 1.
Defensive options or finned barrels at tier 2.
Ground attack options or leading edge for tier 3.
Nitrous now functions in the same way as the super charger for the Pacific planes.
Finally some less critical upgrades for tier 4.

Al Marj Encampment

Soldier
New Soldier Characters:

14 New U.S. Faction Soldiers.
2 New Japan Faction Soldiers.
Additional Changes:

Additional fixes to prevent players from getting stuck in a bleeding out state. If this does not fix the problem, we hope that it will decrease the rarity from uncommon to rare.
Fixed a bug that would in some cases play the wrong voice over when a soldier spots a bomber.
UI & Other
Fixed an issue that would cause spotted enemies to not show on the mini-map if the player walked into their own smoke.
Added the missing descriptions for the Calliope and Hachi in the statistics tab.

PostRe: Battlefield V - Final content update out now with two new maps etc.
by Monkey Man » Mon Jan 18, 2021 12:16 pm

Battlefield 6 is a soft reboot planned for release on both current and last-gen consoles, as well as PC, it’s been claimed.

That’s according to the latest report on the in-development game by reputable leaker Tom Henderson, who previously claimed that DICE was targeting 128-player maps for Battlefield 6 (a claim later corroborated by a journalist).

According to Henderson’s latest report, which he says contains information obtained from people with knowledge of DICE’s plans, Battlefield 6 will return to a modern setting inspired by Battlefield 3.

The insider reiterates his claims from last year that the shooter will feature some maps designed with 128-player battles in mind. However, his claims that Battlefield 6 will also release for PS4 and Xbox One are new.

Publisher Electronic Arts has previously referred to the new Battlefield as “a true next-gen vision for the franchise.” However, with the release pencilled for just a year after the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it makes sense that it would want to target the far larger installed base of last-gen.

According to Henderson, Battlefield 6 on last-gen consoles will likely not allow for 128-player battles – instead targeting 64 players – and could feature limited destruction compared to the next-gen and PC versions.

However, he said players should not be concerned by last-gen machines limiting the next-gen version.

“When it comes to Battlefield 6 releasing on last-gen consoles, I understand there’s going to be a lot of people a little bit annoyed within the community because it essentially means that the current-gen version is going to be limited in some aspects,” he said.

“However, I’ve been told that is simply not the case, and a completely different studio or a different part of [DICE] is working on the previous-gen version and it’s something that we simply should not be worried about.

Henderson goes on to claim that a battle royale game mode was at some stage in the works for Battlefield 6, but states that his sources are unclear on whether it’s still planned. However, with the success of Call of Duty Warzone, and plans for 128-player maps, Henderson speculates that DICE could yet decide to implement the mode.
