More to follow.
So I played a few games of this last night. First off the good: It looks absolutely STUNNING on X1X and I've barely noticed a frame drop. It's up there with best looking games on the system, even the texture resolutions seem bumped up, it's super sharp and the lighting is glorious with a gorgeous lense flair effect lifted straight out of a spielberg movie.
As a technical show case it's flawless, dropping in from the sky and seeing EVERYTHING loaded in from the start is quite the change from PUBG. Also, the LOD's must be of a very high standard as I kept an eye on a few buildings as I approached and didn't notice any change from plane to their front doors!
The gunplay is 60fps and fast, the looting system and UI is a bit weird. Using your armour plates is fiddly AF. I does have some Apex stuff like not being able to pick up a lower rank back pack than what you have. It's all rather splendid on the whole.
The Bad: I don't really enjoy the solo play in this, it really helps campers as I generally got shot by people hiding in forests or behind rocks, fair enough but sometimes you're shot by someone relatively near and you can't even see them cos the world itself is so well realized, an odd thing to complain about but compared to the other BR's they are relativity barren, in this you can hide in long grass and among some fern tree's and you're hidden almost fully.
At present I don't really feel the BR Adrenalin kick, just not quite yet, I never really got it in Blops 4 but I deffo get it in Apex and PUBG, now this could change when I get used to it and stop getting killed by campers but yeah in solo's it's a little bit campy. I played one squads match and team mates were eejits, one of them kept shooting me, there's no team damage but he gave our position away with the constant machine gun fire. I'll stick with it but I think It'd be nice to get some squad games going. It's a busy week, DayZ 1.0 is out wednesday so my game time will be limited.
Are there any PS4 players who fancy getting together in a squad?
I’ve got a little boy now so don’t get much time to play games and so all these BR games have passed me by. I tried this. I don’t like BR. It’s tense, but it’s not fun. Squads might be better.
New battlefields incoming. Starting June 27, Chapter 4: Defying the Odds will evolve Battlefield V with new maps rolling out throughout the summer. See more during the Battlefield V EA Play livestream on Saturday June 8th
