Rumour: PS exclsuives to hit PC

Can't find the tweet but apparently HZD will be released on both Steam and EGS. Other rumour is about Dreams.

The Russian chap who originally leaked this via YouTube, also said he'd spoken to PS5 devs who've been told to "Keep PC in Mind".

This would be similar to the PlayStation 1 days with games from Psygnosis turning up on PC, but I recall a number of those would turn up many months later, so I wonder if this would eventually be the same again but with many more games.

There comes a point (as with Horizon here) that the games are obviously not going to shift any more systems on their own so you may as well put them out elsewhere. Ideally from a customer POV you’d want them much nearer to launch day on PS5...or launch day parity.

Would have been great if they included Mac too because that’s now quite capable of running the majority of current gen games to a very high standard (look at Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Fortnite). I’m positive at least one of the Wipeout’s made it to Mac as I remember seeing it running in PC World back in the day.

I've heard great things about HZD so I'll enjoy finally being able to play that if true. :mrgreen:

Software is the thing that makes money so ultimately what matters is that people are giving you money for your games, not which colour box they're playing them on.

If MS and Sony keep this progress up then I'll almost certainly be PC only for the next gen (plus whatever Nintendo do obvs!)

I have, and still don't, no plans to invest in the next generation of consoles, however as someone with an already very competent PC then it's good to know I won't have to concern myself with "missing out" on games that may have interested me but were entirely exclusive to a certain platform.

This is a good thing.

I have a HZD to PC theory: Sony have said they want more games utilising GaaS business model. They have also said people should expect to see their first party games releasing to a wider audience base. So! HZD to PC is the first step to turning the series into their own multiformat, MP GaaS IP.

I wonder if I'll ever take the shrink-wrap off my copy of HZD

I would strawberry floating love it if bloodborne came to the pc. I had to stop playing as struggled with 30fps, and have been hoping there would be a remastered version on the ps5.

like seriously I'm almost having a mental breakdown at the thought. Gaming has been such a giant part of my life, i strawberry floating moved to San Francisco to persue a career in gaming.
I really hope this is the alcohol talking. I love console gaming, I love exclusives, I like the way consoles are designed which is why as much as I bitch I admire Nintendo.

Most don't, but some games do benefit from being designed for an exclusive platform. Mostly its due to input. Tearaway utilises the unique feature set of the Vita that would be near impossible to translate to PC (or, as proven, the PS4). Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid isn't the same experience without wired controller ports, accessible save files from other games and a controller with rumble. Zombi is notably different from ZombiU for the lack of a gamepad (and the accompanying asymmetric multiplayer). Skyward Sword is absolutely beholden to the wiimote.

If those games were being designed with platform agnosticism in mind, they wouldn't be the same, and they'd probably be worse for it.

I can't see a problem with this.
Games will still be designed with PS5 hardware as the lead platform and be optimised for it they'll just also be able to be ported to PC which shouldn't be hard.
