Here they're only really available to buy for Victoria Day and Canada Day, so we don't really have an issue with people firing them off all year round.

Makes sense to keep sales to specialist shops so it's not as easy to get hold of them and they can assess who they are sold to.
Don't ban them though.

Not really fussed either way, the ones they sold are shocking anyway :lol:

Although I’m kind of tight, always think what’s the point in buying some when you can enjoy everyone else’s for free? Actually buying them takes an age as well so if you were wanting to buy some then you’d be better off going to an actual shop that only sells fireworks so you can get better fireworks and quicker.

Not really, I don’t have much of a problem with fireworks where I live, but I know they cause misery to people in other areas.

Fireworks are dangerous and they don’t just harm the idiot that doesn’t know how to use them. There’s no real need for anybody to buy their own, there’s plenty of professional displays in the U.K.

In the 15th century, Korea developed an artillery weapon called a hwacha, which was capable of launching up to 200 fireworks at an enemy in a single volley.

For... completely unrelated reasons, I think fireworks should continue to be available for, uh, personal use.

As a pet owner and somebody with PTSD who responds badly to loud bangs (I strawberry floating hate balloons, too), fireworks can strawberry float off.

And if you think taking my (and others') PTSD into account is "nanny state bullshit", then you can shove a strawberry floating firework up your arse.

i have a dog, and fireworks on random days are annoying - but i like home fireworks, have some good memories of them, and think children and others shouldnt be deprived of that joy because some bell ends cant do it safely. i think they should only be available for certain times of the year, but i dont agree with an all out ban.
also public displays are gooseberry fool because you have to stand in a field for hours and other people are just annoying. much rather set off some rockets in my back garden :datass:

I should probably qualify my opinion actually, When I say that fireworks should be limited to organised shows I mean that they should be more heavily regulated. Licenses for use(for example, a condition should be that you can show you have the space available to use the fireworks you want safely) and training in how to actually use fireworks before you’re given a license too.

That might sound stupid but again, deaths and serious injuries have increased year on year for a decade so it’s clear that the current system isn’t working to protect people from the consequences of fireworks. It’s not just idiots hurting themselves, it’s idiots hurting other people(and animals) ruining it for everyone.
