I think you can change that in the options.

I sure as hell hope so. I keep jacking cars and then just sitting there as I hold the right trigger.

I am currently the second worst getaway driver in history, just above Davey the quadruple amputee paraplegic.

So

The buttons were analogue, so you could get perfect acceleration and braking in GTA III.

Is Saints Row 2 any good? Really? Kind of interested in it to see how it compares to GTA, which in a way makes it more appealing.

Saints Row 2 is fun. GTA:IV...not so much.
Saints Row 2 has a much better variety of missions. GTA:IV...not so much.

GTA:IV is technically untouchable though.

Saints Row 2 is in my top 5 games on the 360. It may not compare technically to GTA IV, but in the fun department it beats most games on the market this gen.

And co-op strawberry floating OWNS!!!

This

Having so much fun in co-op at the moment with Garth. The missions have been really good and while like SugaDave says it doesn't compare to GTA4 technically, the engine does the job. It's definitely worth picking up at some point, most people will have a lot of fun with it.

It's actually really interesting to compare the two side to side.

Almost everything that is good about GTA IV is terrible in Saints Row. it just can't manage the raw technical and artist proficiency of GTA IV, but without the need to try and tell even a moderately serious story, the game is freed to just be fun, and it manages that with aplomb.

GTA IV is so much more polished and has a fantastic script, but it kind of trips over it's own need to actually be a playable game, as well. It manages it, but mostly with repetitive missions that quickly degenerate into "go here and shoot some guys".

Off the top of my head, only the mission where you chase down Bernies stalker on a scooter around Central Park stands out. Whereas about two or three missions into Saints Row, I've had to escape from prison, drive to court and shoot another gang member out of a death sentence, and then drive around firing gooseberry fool at houses. Which is disgusting but hilarious. It's much more the "cartoon" end of the spectrum that Rockstar used to occupy before they realised that they could tell decent stories, too.

At the very least, it's worth a quick squizz if you're one of the millions of people who, for no readily apparent reason, have a hate hard-on for GTA IV. Just remember and change the controls before you start.

Funny you should mention decent storytelling, SR2 has a couple of really good gang linked story arcs...obviously not as good as the whole coming to the USA to get a fresh start, etc.

Not really true, many people have stated many times why they don't like GTA4. (big difference between not liking something & hating it...I was more disappointed with what GTA4 had to offer...never really hated it...apart from the vehicle controls. :x )
