I don't use butter either.

I like everything dry and crisp. Gravy? Nope. Butter? Jog on (unless of fresh hot toast)

People who put bread in the fridge are sub human scum.

I'm enjoying people picking up on individual elements of OR's post separately with no one noticing the entire thing is certainly designed to strawberry float with us.

Wish I could slap this deliciousness between some bread and take it to work.

We don't have bread very often, so once it's been open a few days and there's no call to use it up, we move the remainder of the loaf to the fridge to extend it's life a few days longer to allow for toasting.

Not sure if serious?

Putting bread in the fridge accelerates the process of it going stale!

This is acceptable as it does actually help to extend the life of the bread - as long as it is heated up properly when you take it out.

It's to stop it going mouldy - once it's in the fridge it becomes for toasting only.

Buy a bloody bread bin people.

I do freeze bread though as gluten free is extortionate and I get it reduced for ocassional toast. You can microwave a bun for 40 seconds though, and I lightly toast that as well.

I have one. We don't eat bread often enough to get through it fast enough to do so without it becoming mouldy. So it sits in the bread bin suitable for sandwiches until it gets near the time, then it gets moved to the fridge where it can be used for a mediocre sandwich if nessasary, but more likely toast. Beyond that my landlord just mills me some more flour and bakes another loaf.

I know I know. Brown bread lasts longer btw. With white it's the sugar in it.

Whilst I imagine if you surveyed the market it would most likely be true that on average brown bread has a lower sugar content, but I don't think there would be too much in it. Plenty of brown bread is loaded with sugar as well!

I generally don't get the fruit and cheese/fruit and meat going well with each other thing.

The only fruits that belong anywhere near cheese are tomatoes, cucumber ,aubergine and members of the squash family.

Mango chutney and lime pickle are also acceptable with meat (in curry) as they don't particularly taste like the fruits they're made from.

What's wrong with a good old stick of cheese and pineapple? :capnscotty:
