I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict this will just be the same as the previous three games but with a wild west skin.

Looks like a modern setting. There were modern looking grain silos and the church had power lines and a metal gas cylinder outside it.

WD2 stayed away from Ubi open world tropes (as it were), so maybe they've learned their lesson?

3 was so-so. 4 was brilliant. Primal was gash.

I hope it's like 4.

I think those videos make me more interested in this. I'm getting slight horror (e.g. Get Out) vibes from it.

didn't look like game footage though, or even a graphics engine

I like Far Cry games more than I probably should, so any new one is fine by me. None of this spear-chucking bollocks though, I hated Primal.

Loved 4, hated Primal. Excited for this. But the Ubisoft Big Open World's with a billion pointlessly collectables is getting tired.

Hopefully they add a lot like more crafting, some more legendary creatures to hunt, more honey badgers, less DLC and no U Play locked weapons.

Wish my image sig would work

I watched the clips and there's no way they have a hope in hell of reaching the photo realism depicted even on the Scorpio.
Maybe on the most ultra settings on PC but no chance on console and maybe not even after they get to grips with next gen.

Pretty sure those clips are just to tease the setting. It looks like footage shot on an actual camera (with effects work and post-processing), so of course the game won't match it.

I wonder how many other people think it's in game/target footage...

I thought it was obvious that the trailers were live footage, used to help set the mood, etc.

Shame it's a Ubisoft game as it seems a good setting.

If the game has you playing as a minority killing a bunch of racist, religious, white supremacist-types then I'll be buying it at launch.

*scans background for clues*

...

Oh dear god no  I see a radio antenna type structure. If they have any sense it'll be hackable from the base. That or do as HZD did and make it one tower per zone. HZD had 5 tallnecks. FC4 had 17 towers.

Daryl Dixon has the final word on that.
