I wonder if the same "it was 2deep4u that's why you didn't like it" writer from FC3 will be back. Either way, I expect this will be unveiled at E3.

I think they need to give the series a rest for a while. Each one since 3 just seems to be a re-hash of the last.

Would prefer a sequel to Blood Dragon tbh.

If not Blood Dragon at least a futuristic urban setting. I've seen enough jungles.

In case anyone never got to read it this is genuinely one of the best interviews in gaming, in which the head writer of Far Cry 3, a AAA videogame, repeatedly states how clever he is to have googled the meaning of "rook."

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/1 ... nd-satire/

When Citra kills you at the end, it’s like Mario thinking he’s rescuing the princess for the whole game, and then the princess stabs Mario, and says “You win”

It's very, very Alan Partridge.

If this was about the white messiah motif, would I be so stupid as to have a main character’s nickname be Snow White?

The guy is either a tortured genius misunderstood by the whole world, or a self-aggrandising hack. I got nothing from the FC3 story except "Rich white kids be bad" but then again this is apparently what the writer intended? That not getting the story was some sort of subversion? Who knows.

A church on the northeastern Montana prairie that once served family and band members of the late Lakota Sioux Chief Sitting Bull will soon be featured in an upcoming video game.

The Mni-Sda (Still Water) Presbyterian Church, known locally as the Chelsea Church, sits just off U.S. Highway 2 between Poplar and Wolf Point.

Its belfry is what attracted filmmakers to the structure, which was constructed in 1904, and is the oldest church on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

Monday, crew members used a drone that repeatedly flew by the belfry filming a man fighting with another man near a hanging bell as a train rolled by on the tracks a half-mile away. The footage mostly will be used for promotion of the video game.

Producers couldn’t release the name of the video game but said production areas for it stretched more than 5,000 miles from California to Montana.

“This is a sequel to an existing global franchise,” said Los Angeles-based Producer Jeff Guillot, who came to the reservation with 11 other crew members from Paris, Los Angeles and Bozeman.

The backstory of the video game, which will be released in September, is of an open world that takes place in an imaginary Hope County, Guillot said.

The location and art departments for the film are manned by a Bozeman crew, including location manager Will Brewster who was charged with the task of finding the perfect belfry for the project.

Brewster scouted 25 church belfries in Montana and had found three in small communities that matched the producer’s criteria: It had to be in the prairie, on a hill, have an open belfry and good angles for shooting.

"But what has any of that got to do with Far Cry?!"

Well, in 2015...

Ubisoft polls public on future Far Cry settings - Wild West! Zombies! Dinosaurs! Vampires?

Would you like Far Cry 5 to include vampires? Or how about a Jurassic Park-style setting filled with huge dinosaurs to hunt?

Ubisoft appears to be considering both of these options - and several others - according to a recent survey that polled Far Cry fans on where a future game should be set.

The questionnaire was sent out to a number of Far Cry 4 players over the past few weeks, a trio of whom then contacted Eurogamer.

The poll mentions potential real-world locations such as Peru and Alaska, plus historical settings such as the Vietnam War and a Spaghetti Western-style tale in late 19th Century America (Far Cry meets Red Dead!).

I'm up for anything that takes it away from a tropical jungle setting.

Hmmm. Western Far Cry could be very good.
I really enjoyed 3/4 and Blood Dragon (Not played Primal) and for me it's easily Ubi's most enjoyable Open World series (I nearly reinstalled 3 yesterday actually). The gameplay loop is solid and there's always some fun emergent situations.

I'm quite ready for a new one as it's been a couple of years since I played 4.

I thought the same. Not a good idea, needs to be an urban setting.

Yep. A definite no to that particular question. Unless there are Trigens.

I think there's more far cry games than FIFA atm. Seem to be knocking them out every 6 months

3 and 4 were great fun to play, so if 5 manages to keep things fresh, whilst retaining the gunplay of those games, then I'll be happy.

they should strawberry floating nuke the franchise and start again.

I've said it before and I will say it again: Once you get past 3 games its time to stop numbering them and come up with a unique USP rather than - " oh its like the 4 other games you've played but different."

Not sure I agree with that, Resident Evil VII (which is actually the ninth main series game I believe) was fantastic and arguably bar VIII so were Final Fantasies IV through X.

I don't see the length of a series as an issue more the frequency at which sequels are shat out.
