We had mountains and tropical islands and now we've got a slightly rural American farmland?

Yeah, this is the main thing that has turned my interest right down. In terms of the geography/terrain, culture/story, and simply the ability to present an interesting environment that I want to play around in, this game just looks to be several steps behind previous Far Cry games.

Starting to get a bit bored now. Got all the best weapons, no need to hunt as need no extra cash, challenges are pointless as the skills I have left to get are generic and not game changing.

It's just more of far cry 4 but with less crazy stuff. They've tried to make it more organic by not having loads of icons, but this removes the ability to just target the activities you want to do.

Any help with unlocking Boomer.

I got to the farm and killed everyone around but can't find a way to interact with the dog.

Is he by the dead couple? I got the pet option once I went face on to him and crouched.

That is the thing wth this style of design. Organic discovery is great for the first time you go to places but it can leave you completely lost one you've covered a large amount of the map.

No he's in a cage at the pumpkin farm.

Yup, that's where he was when I arrived. Then I offed everyone and next thing I knew he was out the cage and by who I assume were his former owners. Try shooting the cage?

I'll give that a try again as I did try shooting the padlocks before but might of missed something.

Nah, it's definitely glitched. I think I shot 2 or 3 cultists who were already at the farm and then a few arrived in a pickup. After killing them I found the cage empty and Boomer by the couple. You could try fast travelling out of the farm and back in.

Same happened to me. Using a melee attack on Boomer's cage worked for me so try that.

Well I seem to be stuck in a 'death loop' in this game. Fell off the big statue of Seed, and the game seems to have auto-saved as I was falling - like, in the third person, black and white death scene. So each time it reloads, that's where it starts - with my character smacking into the ground and dying. It's really really irritating, as I have manually saved pretty often, but for some reason you don't get the option to choose your save.

I was about twelve to fifteen hours in I'd say, and while I was really enjoying the game at this point it took a little while for everything to click (get the right weapons, allies etc) and I can't say I'm that inclined to start again :-(.

Have you tried going to the world map and fast travelling out of it?

I don't recall FC 3 or 4 having so many issues.

I'm afraid that doesn't work as the 'death' has already occurred. No 'cling to life', no pause, no map... Just an endless cycle of smashing into the ground. It's quite nightmarish as a visual.

I can't believe there is only the one save to load from! Just one other save slot and it's be fine! Grrrr.

So while the SP is on hold till they fixed the night bug - tried some of the Arcade for a fair bit of yesterday.

It's a bit of a mess tbh. The Featured PvE content (made by Ubisoft I expect) is pretty good. If you like Outposts there's lots of variety. Bounty hunt is pretty fun. The Journey/Assault stuff less so.

PvP though. Man...it's like the 90s/early 00s all over again. No idea about TTK, but seemed massive variety. Lag all over the shop (think it's player hosted?) and the maps are a mix of boring, uninspired and painful (even the featured ones). Takedowns (and follow up pistol takedowns) are ridiculously OP, so everyone's running around trying to get behind other people (one of the featured maps, Inferno, is basically melee only and it's a clusterchuff). Not sure how it'll fair long term...expect not well.

I'm hoping Arcade manages to emerge from the early nothing-but-trash phase. It's a really powerful editor from what I've looked at, and for someone with some patience and skill it could allow for some really interesting stuff.

The PvE stuff looked like it could be really strong.
PvP stuff. I'm not sure the combat/lag will be sorted.
Also only ever having Deathmatch or TeamDeathmatch (as far as I've seen) will really limit their options/

I'm not really interested in any of the PvP stuff to be fair. Totally done with online MP for the timebeing so I've not even looked at the stuff inside the game. It does suck that there's only DM and TMD modes though.

Even if Arcade doesn't get any better it was worth it for the remake of Duke Nukem 3D E1M1 map I played. That was good fun. :D
