Once we went for a meal in murca and my wife ordered a soup to start. The waitress said they didn't have any croutons for the soup so to make up for it they'd "give us biscuits instead". Queue What in the actual strawberry float from us. Then she brought out 6 garlic scwuns. The (52) state of that place.

I'd generally go jam first, so you can spread it evenly and nicely, and then a dollop of cream. Doing it the other way makes it more difficult to spread the jam. Who really cares though, all tastes the same in the end.

Jam is a spread and cream is a topping, so clearly jam goes on first. C'mon.

Sorry guys, I had to step in here as things were getting out of hand. Richard, above, has shown that he is a fine example of British decency and common sense - you just cant buy that type of heritage.

How, are we to spread the jam if the cream is in the way? Spread the butter, jam and then a dollop of cream.
