We don't have discussion thread rules anymore because that turned toxic and well stuff changed. Tbh I just wouldn't bother in those threads, there's the occasion sociopolitical more specific less giant unending ideological war which is basically a waste of time that may be more interesting because it only lasts for a few days and doesn't make you want to claw your eyes out.

I'm afraid misogyny still exists in residual amounts and the usual bad taste which is usually good bad taste.

Just post no pressure. Things are pretty chill.

Thanks, Karl, for bringing this sad thread to my attention. I've just read through all 14 pages and it's heartwarming to see just how many people Scott touched during his years here, on other forums and in the world beyond the zeros and ones.

My own interactions with Scott were mostly confined to PG and this thread has brought back a lot of happy memories of that place that I didn't realise I still had. I often didn't see eye to eye with him, but he was undeniably a nice guy, passionate and with a zest for life. Having never met him, the fact that I remember his personality so many years later is testament to just that, a person that stands out from the crowd.

Like so many others, my internet presence has dwindled significantly since those carefree years when free time was in abundance. I came back here tonight because, aged 31, I remember what a fantastic community this place and its predecessors was for my younger self. A good chunk of my late teens was spent in the fine company of many of the people who've reassembled in this thread and I'm delighted to see this community still going as strong as ever. Even though I haven't logged in for a few years, I often find myself thinking of this place and it's clear I'm not alone.

Rest in peace, Scott.
