Because when you go outside and I've been to a few polling stations today, and I see the NO posters that surround them, and I remember that there's quite a large right-wing working class population in this country, and then there's that older generation, they're not activists and they don't say what they're thinking but I know they want to keep things the way they are. Luke I have no idea why you've written that to me in such an aggressive manner. I was simply saying that some people must surely just be happy with the current set up and don't want change. They won't be swayed as they are happy how they are.
I wan't being aggressive mate. I know what you're saying, I agree some (upper/middle class) will be happy with what they've got, I suggest most others have been manipulated through fear of the uncertainty of independence, but are not actually happy. Then there are others such as the orange lodge and it's supporters who want to preserve the union simply because a large part of their (fascist) culture will be pointless without it.

As someone who voted yes earlier there are plenty of valid reasons to vote no.
To suggest people have voted to stay part of the UK purely either through self interest or have been manipulated into it is retarded, and childish in the extreme.

I think voting against your country governing itself fully is retarded. And willingly ceding power to those who couldn't give a gooseberry fool about you is a slap in the face to your fellow citizen.

Though I feel I would possibly vote Yes if I had the choice (it is impossible to ascertain how I would feel if I were Scottish, however, as I would have a totally different view on things), I feel it is wrong that Luke suggests a No vote is just a vote against democracy, or consigning people to live in a miserable world where change is banished. These people may want change; they just may by want this change. It is a perfectly valid thing to think. It is not undemocratic to vote No either.

Clackmannanshire's barely bigger in population than the town I come from. There's a long way to go, although a lot of people seem to think it's looking like a No victory.

It's really impossible to tell whether this is a blip or indicative of some greater trend. Smarter and more able people than I will do the stats, but needless to say 30k-ish is a tiny sample when we're expecting millions of votes.
