You need* a currency, we'll fix that out of necessity; it's much harder to take power away from two main parties (who are more or less the same). Hell, people couldn't even get the AV vote through.

IMO, if you vote with the currency on your mind, and not the electoral system, that's a real shame.

You've summed up my own position on this better than I ever could.

What things actually looked like :

Presumably the BBC didn't have a photographer on top of a lorry.

Yeah because the BBC never use pictures taken by the public in their reports.

The BBC's coverage in the past few days has been absolutely disgusting

That's the north end of Buchanan Street, on the steps of the Royal Concert Hall. No lorry required to get that kind of shot, just the ability to climb (at most) 20 steps.

In fact, here's an image from the BBC site covering a fire scare at the Buchanan Galleries in August of last year:

Deliberately misleading, as they have a photograph from near enough the same angle (arguably better) as the one posted above, but in reporting the support of the Yes campaign they suddenly go all amateur hour with the photography.

Why did the BBC report the rally like that?

Perhaps they've learnt their lesson. The report on the bias rally uses a high viewpoint photo

The democratically elected First Minister of Scotland.

Well aye but it's not as if people don't wish to be free of democratic leaders all the time.

Glad that there's another Kevin bridges show about the referendum tomorrow, big fan of his.

You don't get it all. Even if there is a no vote, the support for independence has drastically increased since before the referendum. Nationalism in Scotland is now more powerful than it has ever been. I don't think Salmond is going anywhere. In fact, give him a decade or so to campaign and come back with more assurances and he would walk a yes vote.

Those who want to keep Scotland in the UK in the long term have a real struggle ahead of them. I don't think Westminster has fully woken up to this new reality.

And the question becomes: is it cheaper to keep Scotland and give it what it wants, or cut it loose?

Groundskeeper Willie says we have 2/3rds of Europe's oil reserves. So I would think the former option.

Its cheaper to keep us. More out than we get in, UK borrows money and increases the money we receive.

I worry about the reaction in Scotland among the nationalists if it's a narrow No. :(

Or the Unionists if it's a narrow "Yes"...

Then there's the thorny "high road/low road" debate...

I usually take the M6.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.
