Quick question.

We were talking about this in work last night and don't really know.

If Scotland splits, what happens with our U.N security council Seat?

It's for great Britain, and by default we've been on it since WWII, but if we're not Britain any more, and Scotland and England go their seperate ways then what happens to the seat? England just?

Same for NATO, well maybe not actually, although if Britain ceases to exist would England and Scotland then have to creat new Member state Action plans or like Ireland and go on to Peace Partnerships...

Also UKIP. Will they have to change their name, also England in the next election, the tori's are out, under a tori government they lost strawberry floating scotland, and labour has a massive count of votes in Scotland that no long is UK, plus lots of tori's moving to UKIP could that mean UKIP might have a decent chance of getting into power in the next election, or is this all conjecture?

Had some great discussions over the last few weeks with people around Scotland, a friend of mine wants, if Scotland get independence, for Northern Ireland to get a referendum to join Scotland as the Ulster-Scots collective, BRITS OUT, IRISH OUT :slol: :fp:

One thing I see if Scotland goes independant is that it will show up this little set of islands in the North Atlantic as exactly what they are. Little Islands in the North atlantic living on the back of an Empire that hasn't exsisted for a long time. Which isn't a bad thing, we could be really sucessful little nations and stop trying to be like the big boys. Like an Island version of Belgium.

Tommy Sheridan is the worst. He used to do sociology tutorials at my uni when I took it as an elective in first year, and was not well regarded.

UNRELATED ANECDOTE FOLLOWS. We walked past him putting stuff in his car one day. As we drew level with him, I pointed him out to my friend and he blurted out, "What, the rapist guy!?" at the top of his voice. He heard it and just glowered at us the rest of the way down the road. He looked like a sun-dried tomato. [Sheridan was never accused of rape to my knowledge, I have no idea why this came to my friend's mind]

The BBC answered the U.N question a little while ago for what happens if Scotland goes independent.
The UK (England, Wales and Northern Island) will keep its permanent seat on the council. Scotland will need to apply for (and almost certainly get) U.N membership, but will not have a permanent seat on the security council. It will need to get elected to one of the temporary seats like other non-permanent nations.

Of course there will be voting on sectarian lines, but that's hardly surprising.

The demographers reckon that most poor people will be voting "Yes" and the middle classes will mostly vote "No".

Best referendum ever!

Anecdotally I don't think that will be the case (if you're being serious). I live in a middle class area and I've barely met any no voters. It seems to be on generational lines - Millennials and Gen X-ers seem to be the biggest Yes voters, older people and the very young are going No.

See, my experience is different; the middle classers round here are in the main no voters while down the road in the estates yes stickers are absolutely everywhere.

But I agree it probably is more along generational lines. I wanted to see the YouGov polls demographics in depth but they haven't classified their findings in enough detail to draw any real conclusions.

Loving the wee guys in the corners of my screen.
