They do that but they also declare nationally I believe, so we'll have an idea of how things are going. I'm actually quite nervous now, I didn't think I was at all bothered until today.

Have you done anything in this thread but complain?

Yes. Still posting because I'm interested in the outcome. Not like there's loads of riveting discussions to have while we're waiting for people to vote though. Might as well complain about the media coverage, kills some time at work too.

Don't bother watching it then?

That's the plan.

That's good, didn't really know what was happening re: this. Looks like it's an all-nighter for me.

That's what I've been led to believe anyway. It'll all be tied up for around half past midnight for me, so I won't even need to miss out on any sleep.

Me too, was actually quite nervous in the booth.

Still don't truly know which way I would rather it went.

Ditto on both counts. It's weird though how monumental a thing it feels like when you're heading to the polling station and then how banal the reality of actually voting is.

Whatever happens, I'll not moan, I'll just try and make the best of it.

Is this vote simply about the overall number of votes? Or do each side win districts? And the winner is the one with overall highest districts? I assume its as simple as most votes overall.

Yep, that's right. Whoever gets the higher vote, wins.

If they try to run you out of Scotland in the event of a yes vote then we have a lovely little town called corby that you can settle in.

Haha, I'm not worried about that although it is possible I'd have to move down south for employment reasons.

The one thing I am dreading if it is a yes vote is Salmond's smug little gloaty face tomorrow morning!

EDIT: The bumpain online tomorrow if it is a no vote will also be unbearable. 'Yes' is clearly the internet winner, so there is the potential for internet meltdown again.

I think you misunderstand our Scot's solidarity. If it's no we'll move on together and try and make sure rushed promises aren't broken from Westminster.

You are obviously always going to have your minority morons either way who will start fights and incite racism but whether we split from the UK or not I'd like to think Scotland itself will stick together. Especially on here I don't think the Scots will be crowing. I can see outsiders looking in having digs though.

I'm a little bit worried about anti-English sentiment in a post-independence Scotland actually. It's bad enough just now when people inadvertently find out where I'm from(mostly verbal abuse, but my dad once had a telephone cord wrapped round his neck because of his accent). I hate not being able to go to the pub and watch England without worrying what'll happen if I cheer a goal.

I would be worried too. I can only see it getting worse.

Don't get me wrong, Scotland's far from a racist country and in the 20 years I've lived there I can count on my fingers the amount of times I've had genuine issue. It's just a low level background thing to keep an eye on.

I suppose that is a worry for the city Ben. No-one really thinks about that here dounreay brought in a lot of English people where I live. Going on a night out Saturday 3/5 of the people going have English accents. Birmingham, Bradford, Yorkshire.

Personally it's about politics not nationalism. I mean we're always going to be Scottish.

I think the types of people who fall into that sort of thing are more likely to bear grudges in the event of a No vote. Then again, not much logic tends to fuel stuff like that.
