It definitely drops off at some point. I'm not sure where but the newer episodes are really insufferable. Like Friends, it got too formulaic and too tied-up in its own in-jokes.

The first three series (at least) are brilliant.

Season 1-4 were the best Season 5-6 were good but had gooseberry fool episodes, season 7 was too wacky season 8 brought the series back.

Season 9 is goof on it's own but crap compared to Scrubs S1-8

Cougar Town basically turned into Scrubs: The Next Generation by the end of the first season and it is now consistently the funniest sitcom on tv.

Scrubs is as good as Friends. The only two sitcoms I've ever been able to get into.

It was never as good as Friends. Also, watch more sitcoms.

Yeah, you're probably right. I was caught up in the moment.

Any sitcom recommendations?

Theres a load in the OP of the USTV thread. Although, they're obviously all american..

Here's the shortlist in descending quality order:

Curb your Enthusiasm
Arrested Development
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Modern Family
Cougar Town

Corazon de Leon

Oh God yeah I forgot about Arrested Development. It's not really a traditional sitcom, but it is bloody brilliant.

Going back a few years, Seinfeld was great too.

Everybody knows the best NBC comedy is Parks and Recreation anyway.

Elliot is the most annoying character ever and she has a weird face.

Apart from that it's a decent show. Although the more repeats I watch, the more I can't stand the characters.

It was great from Seasons 1-4, then it went all stupid and over the top. It had it's moments, but it lost a lot of its charm and what made it funny. Though that seems to be a trait of NBC sitcoms

The sentimental bits depress me. I'll be laughing along, then somebody dies and I'm all :| -> then back to -> :|

Great show, though.

Except season 6 had some of the most hilarious episodes in the entire run and season 4 some of the least, so that is complete BS.

Season 1-5 were great (though 2 and 3 in particular are where it really hit its stide). The tail-end of 5 and then all of season 6 is where J.D. started getting a bit too "zany" and was less realistic as a character. 7 is a bit odd because it was messed around too much by the writer's strike. Season 8, I thought, was a fine way to end the show and got back round to the character development side of things.

At it's best, I thought Scrubs was pretty well rounded for a sitcom. It was able to tug at the heart strings like the best dramas should do
Think that one where all three of their patients die, the one where Brendan Frasier dies, the one with all three transplant patients die... basically any episode where someone with lines in the script dies.

They ended it pretty much perfectly as well, so it's a shame that there was no Season 9.
