A Pirates Life has no other players in the world…

And when doing the other story stuff they do try to keep you in your own also… I know originally they had problems doing it but it’s been patched.

Additionally you have the Maiden Voyage which teaches you the ropes with no one else around so there are ways to play without plebs ruining the fun. (Press X on title screen)

The music that plays when you complete the Maiden Voyage is among the best I’ve heard in a while for games (imo). It’s called A New Dawn and pops up in A Pirates Life at times also.

I've found if I select a pirate's life from the main menu, then I only encounter the odd player, if it even is a real player. Last night I was attached quite close to the starting area by a skeleton ship, which I managed to eventually take down. It was quite a cool fight, and there was a decent amount of treasure.

I did the second pirate's life story mission to other day and it was rubbish (the underwater stuff). The first mission was really good though, so im still hoping the rest will be of that standard.

I did 4 of the 5 missions and they are better than the second imo, much better in fact.

You took down a skelly ship? fair play. Any nerves while getting that treasure? (im always cacking it that someone will sail over and kill me)

The main game also has a campaign btw, 2 in fact, one is 10 missions and the other 3, they not as elaborate as the Pirates Life ones as they take place on existing islands but they are good (from what I played of them, 3 into the 10 and 2 into the 3, Shroudbreaker is the larger one and Flame Heart the other) The boat map shows where to start each.

Next week a (17th) a timed further stand alone adventure called Shrouded Islands starts till March 3rd (see below) when the next Season Starts.

It appeared next to me right as I was turning at full pelt, so I was already in quite a good wide circle movement, and got plenty of hits in before they speared in to the side of my ship, necessitating a panicked run below deck to patch it up and bail the water out, before getting them along side and taking them out. I think it was at least 30 hits. And yes I was crapping it that another player would arrive, being so close to the starting island. Got it all sold though :)

I'll look out for this missions after pirates life then, cheers.

Forgot to say, I've been playing a bit more of a pirates life, and have now done the third mission.

It's an EXACT recreation of the Disney ride, except you walk the thing rather than sail through it on a little boat. However, at one point you get a row boat so can actually go back to the start and ride the ride so to speak. It's all the same scenes, voices and music from the ride. Very clever.

I've never been on the actual Ride, I heard they based it off it but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

After a bit of a pause while Sea of Thieves put its pieces in place for Season 6, the multiplayer pirate escapade will soon be embarking on its second adventure episode, Forts of the Forgotten, with proceedings getting underway this Thursday, 24th March.

As Rare detailed earlier this year, Sea of Thieves' new limited-time adventures will arrive on a monthly basis, each one propelling the events of an overarching narrative steadily forward. The first of these arrived (albeit in a somewhat underwhelming fashion) in February's Shrouded Islands update, which set the scene for adventures to come when a mysterious fog engulfed the now-deserted Golden Sands outpost and a key character in Sea of Thieves' lore, Belle, made her long-awaited in-game debut.

Following the events of that initial chapter, at least some of the strange, suffocating fog has retreated from the world - although Golden Sands outpost remains surrounded - leaving a sextet of Spanish-themed, phantom-occupied fortresses to infiltrate across the map. It's in one of these that Rare's scene-setting new Forts of the Forgotten cinematic trailer begins.

Forts of the Forgotten will run from 24th March to 7th April. Beyond that, expect two more adventure episodes before Sea of Thieves' sixth season comes to a close, as well as the introduction of a new replayable Pirate Legend voyage - a sort of multi-part story campaign that's remixed with new challenges in different locations on each subsequent playthrough - which is due to arrive in the second half of the season.

I have tried to do the pirates life chapter 3 a grand total of 4 times now. Everytime it has glitched out on me in a manner that has meant it cannot be completed (monsters not appearing, my character being warped out of the tale etc).

I really want to love this game but I think I have hit my limit. It was a friend of mines first chance to play the game, and it was clear that he thought it was a broken mess (though he was too polite to say). I can hardly blame him based on such a poor 1st impression.

When exactly did you last play chapter 3? I know it was borked for a couple of months after launch but....even with that, the 'game' isn't a broken mess, A Pirates Life's campaign certainly was though. I didn't play it till a few months after and all the chapters worked fine (even Ad above done it), haven't started 5 so there is that.

I have tried to play the chapter twice in the last 3 days (making a grand total of 4 times).

And i didn't say I thought the game was a broken mess. I said it was clear my friend I was playing the chapter with (who had only done the maiden voyage prior to this) thought it was. He didn't say as much, but I could sense from his.... restrained enthusiasm he probably wouldn't want to play it again.

Maybe the latest season introduced a bug or something?

Anyone try the new mini forts? I gave one a go for 20mins or so and the one huge thing that I've noticed since the introduction of the non skelly enemies is that combat is VERY satisfying these days. Gun toting enemies drop ammo which totally changes the Rhythm of things (you used to have to go back to the boat after 5 shots).

The ghosts are varied enough too in the forts with different attacks. Honestly it was a blast to run about in 60fps shooting and sword fighting, grabbing barrels and throwing them at enemies and blowing them up, all of these things were possible before but in the forts its concentrated meaning you do all this a lightning speed with quick thinking being the order of the day.

Even on Islands the new sea creatures are great to battle. I even enjoy the underwater combat with the Sirens (mermaids). It's come on an awful lot.

Yeah perhaps. I did try and search whether there was any particular issue at the moment but couldn't find one. Seems to be someting to do with the "instancing".

Love the game, which is why I was so dissappointed that someone I was hoping to get into it for co-op sessions got such a bad 1st impression.
