This is easily the best looking game on X1X in 4K. The sea is spectacular in 4K but it's the lighting that makes it so striking. I presume it's the HDR but my god it's breathe taking stuff.
Love the latest update, so many things to do apart from the 3 main trading companies and even those have extended quests.
- Skeleton ships now roam around the world and may or may not engage you, they will if you shoot them first.
- Skeletons also now have sloops which is huge for me and my daughter as it means we may be able to take one down
- Krakens now attack all ship types but will drop treasure into the sea if you take out a tentacle.
- There are numerous Megalodons at sea now, some weaker than others
- The underwater mermaid statues are re-activated and release gems when they are exploded, the gems can be traded in at any of the 3 companies to boost your XP in that field.
- Cargo runs task you with bringing specific items that have specific needs en route. Silks need to be kept dry, Rum has to remain steady (no running) and plants require water (sea water is fine).
- The volcano islands have been tweaked to decrease the amount of eruptions making them less annoying
- The fortresses have been redesigned and even if there's no skeleton cloud over head they will be populated and you will find good loot on them.
- Fog has been added which at times can get very thick.
- Loot generally has increased, I'm finding more cursed chests these days.
- The rowboat is essential for volcanic landings and silk cargo runs
This update has kinda backdated all the other ones into it, and I haven't mentioned all the new cosmetic stuff including changing your anchor wheel, steering wheel and cannons on top of what you can do already.
When you start a game you've so many options on what to do, you may not even have to do a quest just head to an island and explore to get chests, a gem, a rowboat, catch some animals. If it launched in this state it'd scored much higher but it's gotten to this point via player feedback so I kinda understand.
