Soz for not posting, was without wifi for most of the day and then when I made it back to civilisation I decided to spend it messaging people I actually care about.

Aside from that though, blimey my SS treated me this year! (no photos yet, very lazy)

A selection of rather nice chocolate bars (almost all of which are already eaten, I have no shame)
A build your own Mario level mug, which is both very cool and I am terrified to touch it as I don't want to ruin it.
£25 of Switch eShop credit. Ooooh mama that will stretch far for me.
A strawberry floating goddamn Switch Pro Controller.

There was a lovely GR themed note with it too. Pretty sure I know who sent it, we should grab a drink sometime! Frankly you could have hand delivered it, didn't come from far away.

Suppose I could just give it to a homeless person.

The pinata is dead. Ella and my 2 little cousins had a right laugh destroying it in my nan's garden today, thanks again Denster, you really are Santa!

Sorry for the slow post, haven't had a moment until now to get the pics uploaded!

I was intrigued by what my secret santa would get me as despite being on here since '08 (and being a semi-lurker back in the radar days) I don't have the most prolific posting history to go off, and I wasn't poked for any suggestions either so I was doubly keen to see what I would be unwrapping come the day!

My package came with a nice card (which is something I forgot to put in my victims gift!) and a very helpful publication for this time of year - the local council bin collection dates over Christmas!

Moving past the card I picked out the contents and 4 beautifully wrapped items lay before me:

I wasted no time tearing into these and was presented with a delightful selection of items:

A replica "Foree Electric" name badge from Shaun of the Dead - one of my all time favourite movies.

A heat changing mug featuring a scene from the classic spectrum title Jet Set Willy - one of my absolute favourite games from back in the day.

Some fantastic Ecuadorian drinking chocolate (which I am having a mug of as I type this and is off the strawberry floating scale delicious!)

And finally a really neat little set of Star Trek custom Lego ships - an Enterprise and Klingon bird of prey. I adore lego and these were a real treat to unwrap and build. The best thing is that all the parts are genuine Lego and not some knock off stuff which means if I ever do take them apart then the bits can go into my Lego collection and not have to be kept separate with any other substandard plastic construction toy parts! :toot:

I'm well chuffed with the lot, thanks a lot Santa! :D :D

Bloody hell. Someone got a Nintendo Switch?! Jesus. That's a wonderful gift.

I was thinking of joining next year but there's no way I can afford any goddamn gifts I see posted so far. Truly amazing.

We’re not all moneybags. The minimum limit is £10, it’s just some people spend (slightly ;) ) in excess of that.

I can’t speak for everyone but as long as some thought goes into it, I’m as happy with a £10 gift as I would be with a £300 gift. It’s far more about being nice than being flash.

I agree it was a bit excessive but it's actually a pre owned switch and it was made a lot more affordable because I'd just got a new phone so I traded in my old one. I didn't buy it to be flash. I bought it because she was clearly a big Nintendo fan and I thought it would make a lovely present that her whole family would enjoy.
I find it quite insulting to be called flash. That isn't my intention at all.

I think it was also nice for a new member.

Anyways I make things too so that's a different kind of value it isn't all about that. I know nobody could make the same things, we all have different means and ideas for good gifting. Even the ones I do that are based on brands etc the official products would probably be worse lol. There's some seriously cheap tat out there even for the top brands, I was looking at some absolutely godawful printed nylon harry potter stuff in Tesco the other day.

I think Denster puts a lot of thought into his gifts. I sometimes feel I don't put THAT much thought in but it does take a long time once I settle on something. I only really spent money traditional shopping this year cos I made one other gift on commission which will become obvious hopefully so I just put the proceeds towards my SS.

So yeah I guess you can spend, think deeply and/or make stuff it's all good. Even a bit of eShop credit there's awesome sales on this time of year so you can get some great games, there's no better time of year to spend that and you can use it instantly. I used that approach to for some things and they weren't expensive at all but based on what they liked.

Obviously not everyone cane make things but there's some really nice unique things available on Etsy for example and saw a few of those this year which was great, and they're not expensive either just take more effective stalking and some planning.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."
