It always makes me feel sad when people had deprived childhoods.

I had a mk1, think it was probably one of the last ones before the mk2 was launched.

I got mine when we lived in the Middle East, must've only had the Japanese ones available, I dunno, it was a Christmas present for me and my big sister.

I never had a sega console outside of my Dad's gamegear that I used to play on. I got the Japanese one of these for the 6 button controller and I'm liking it so far!

Picked mine up from the post office today, bit annoyed as the box had a bit of a dinge in it from where it's clearly been thrown around by the postman but never mind. The Mega Drive Mini itself is lovely though, feels really well built and I like how the cartridge slot opens up, as does the expension part instead of being solid molded plastic like the SNES Mini. Controllers are great quality too, feels just like the original. Put it next to my Mega Drive MK1/Mega CD1/32X tower of power and it looks hilarious next to that absolute behemoth. Very cute though.

Only had a little dabble with it so far but emulation and front end both seem excellent. Very impressed, hope we see some more mini Sega systems in future!

2nd September 1994, avec Street Fighter II CE.

Was awkward playing it with the 3 button pad though.

Got my MD in 1990; it was an imported Asian system (played UK, US and Japanese carts) and my first games were Alien Storm (Jap) and Sonic (UK). Fantastic memories!

Both games were 1991 release. Check your timeline, soldier.

I did a Raspberry Pi setup this week in a Geekpi Megadrive case. Awesome looking kit with working power and reset buttons and the volume control opens the lid (usb card storage).
All in, about 80 quid.
If you like a tinker, its a great alternative to the megadrive mini.

Got mine in 1992, I think. I remember there was confusion in the shop because my dear old dad asked for a "Mega System" so the shop had no idea if he meant Master System or Mega Drive.

Blast16 might be a better frontend for this. Sega specific and very Mega Drive mini-esque.

First person to mention the Raspberry Pi in this thread was....

AD7!!

Pre order is up on amazon US, so I'd imagine ours will be live very soon. I'll be getting one  I want a dummy mega CD and 32x to put on it too.

Shame about the 3 button pad, becuase I still have those and they are huuuuge and not very nice to use. The 6 button pads are so much better, but as this is using usb i bet you can always use a 3rd party one anyway. If there's a single controller option I'll probably go for that for that reason.

Also, are the LOL JUST USE A RASPBERRY PI crew ok? They've not arrived yet :simper:
