Brilliant!

Looks like Tetris does indeed make the EU cut:

Tetris (ridiculously rare version!)
Darius (brand new port!)
Virtua Fighter 2
Alisia Dragoon
Monster World IV
Kid Chameleon
Road Rash II
Eternal Champions
Columns
Dynamite Headdy
Strider
Light Crusader
Mega Man: The Wily Wars
Street Fighter II': Special Champion Edition
Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Beyond Oasis
Golden Axe
Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball
Vectorman
Wonder Boy in Monster World
Earthworm Jim
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck
Contra: Hard Corps
Streets of Rage 2
Thunder Force III
Super Fantasy Zone
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
Landstalker
Sonic the Hedgehog
Ecco the Dolphin
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Space Harrier 2
Shining Force
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
ToeJam & Earl
Comix Zone
Altered Beast
Gunstar Heroes

I think that is a bloody great list of games personally and I am really tempted by this now...

OMG. I *have* to have those add-ons, even though they do absolutely nothing and the unit doesn't even play Mega CD or 32X games. I need them!

Is the Tetris version the one made by the same developers as the grandmaster games?

Isn't the MD version by Alexey Pajitnov himself? Or at least was made with his direct involvement I believe.

This wasn't the Virtua Fighter rerelease we were asking for, Sega :fp:

Yup, they seem to have included every game I remember playing on the Mega Drive as a kid. Still a tiny bit gunshy, will wait for reviews but this is pretty high on my wishlist right now.

The add ons <3

Amazing lineup overall with some lovely surprises, though there are of course odd choices (who is asking for that version of Virtua Fighter 2 in 2019) and glaring omissions. The likelihood of S3&K being stuck in licensing hell stings :(

Really astonished Aladdin didn't make it on, would've been great timing with the recent movie and a big nostalgia hit given it was the system's best selling non-Sonic title. Maybe Disney were charging too much, it's still ace we got the two Illusion games on there :)

I've no doubt that all the problems surrounding S3&K will be..... fixable, by the users. :shifty:

For those who are comfortable with a more DIY effort, there's a new Raspberry Pi frontend specifically for Sega stuff that looks awesome.

This isn't a "just get a Pi" post by the way. I've got a MD Mini ordered myself.

Ahah sure, still there is something to be said for what these systems come with right out of the box, especially for the more casual nostalgic market who many not have the means or desire to hack. My primary method of retro gaming will still be unofficial PC emulation but I'd still like one of these <.< This'll be a nice redemption arc too after all the years of terrible licensed MD clones

Hats off to them for getting M2, some really inspired game choices (rerelease of their officially translated Monster World IV ROM back from 2011!!) and the ability to pick any region. I just hope the European version isn't set to the PAL variants of the game by default...at least you'd be able to change them, but I'm sure that'd mean for many they'd be unknowingly playing the 50Hz versions D:

That is a great list, obviously should have all 3 Streets of Rage games but at least they chose the best of the series.

I was expecting that too. And I'm not sure why Thunder Force III with its slightly aged top-down sections instead of IV which is fantastic. I own the cart, but it would be nice in 60Hz. Probably the best looking game on the system.

Really fantastic lineup though and it appeals to me more because my step sister sold all my MD games and I didn't have a SNES growing up. Such as Tomejam and Earl, Echo and there are lots I've never played. Streets of Rage II was always a rental but goes for silly prices now, I have the first game.

I had Comix Zone on PC for some reason.

It's also missing Jurassic Park which I had as a kid at the same time the film came out, sweet jesus that'd be some nostalgia fuel right there :datass:

They should swap it in for Altered Beast, that game is wank.

i don't think there should of been 3 beat em ups on there, I would of kept it at 2 and stuck with eternal champions and mortal kombat 2

MD Virtua Fighter 2 was dogshit.

And putting SFII on there but only releasing the EU version of the mini with 3 button pads is a dick move.
