Didn't love it to be honest. I didn't really like the brothers as a pair (although Sean was pretty cool) and the lack of a central "hook" (e.g. the ongoing mystery of S1) and constantly rotating cast didn't really help build connections/engagement as a result. I mean I despised Chloe in S1, but you had other people/things to draw you in.
I wanted to smack Daniel a lot. He's such an ungrateful little shite. I might have found it different if I had a sibling or a child but for the first few episodes he felt irredeemably a berk. I have no idea why Sean would suffer so much for him (nor me, but I liked the Dad so...)...
Having said that I can see why it's made so any GOTY shortlist and mentions. It's politcally relevant and very very uncomfortable (but also uncomfortably accurate) throughout.
I think I probably enjoyed it more than you. I do agree with the lack of recurring characters though, also the way characters are introduced was a bit jarring as the plot would move on two-three months between episodes. Most of the episodes could have been far longer, like they could have made a whole series out of each episode. There were characters in there that were really interesting but you barely get to know them at they're gone. The other thing is that there's a real lack of any puzzles so the game is super easy and because of the road trip setting you really feel the fake choice element of the game a lot more.
I didn't find Daniel that annoying he's just a little kid. I remember finding the child in the road more annoying. The stories pretty engaging and held my attention although I kind of felt that the thing that kicked of the road trip was a little dumb and Sean should have just stayed put.
Overall I would recommend it as the story is strong and the characters are well rounded.
