Thought I'd have no way of playing this while staying at my mom's, but my aging laptop is proving surprisingly capable.
Granted I've had to set every graphics option to Low or off and the resolution is a paltry 800x600 (which is somehow letterboxed on my laptop's 16:9 display) and the FPS is in the 25-30 range...

Okay, yeah. That's basically unplayable (at least compared to 1440p at 100+ fps on my home PC), but I did somehow manage to beat Gyoubu Oniwa.

The game is slowly starting to click with me now, and has opened up a lot more now that I've beaten the bull mini-boss and got to Ashina Castle. I've explored most of the paths open to me up until I encounter a mini-boss or boss, so now just to decide which one I want to focus on to try and beat between:

Lady Butterfly
Seven Spears
Armoured Warrior
The general outside Ashina Castle
Schichimen Warrior

Armoured warrior takes a few seconds once you figure it out. I'd leave butterfly til last as the stamina boost the others give will make her much easier.

Wish my image sig would work

From the brief go I had Armoured Warrior seemed pretty straightforward as his attacks were very slow so I'll probably take on him first, thanks for the tip.

I did 7Spears, ArmK, Ashina Eliter, Longsword, LongArmC yesterday. And (I think) all/most of the MtK area.

All great fun (Longsword and LAC being no damage kills :D)

GenA is a bumache now though - but I don't think I have many other routes open

Haunted Tomb on the different route before White Snake, but that seemed horrid.
The Abandoned Dungeon behind LongSword - but that mini boss Terrored me in seconds

I'm really enjoying this game now. The turning point was fighting the monk with the katana just before the Genichiro fight, for some reason I was struggling with the parrying timing previously but in that fight everything seemed to click into place.

Since then I've gone back through some earlier areas to explore and am dealing with the regular enemies far easier than previously. Also managed to beat Seven Spears on my second attempt. Going to continue exploring a bit before returning to fight Genichiro as he wiped the floor with me the first time

I just beat Genichiro, GA and Lady Butterfly first time on NG++. Genichiro is my bitch now. But there are still some enemies I just can’t handle, the monk before him is one of them and 7 Spears is another.

Any tips for beating the Snake Eyes enemies? After a really good session yesterday where I felt like everything was falling into place, I'm now getting battered by these two enemies in the Sunken Valley and Ashina Depths.

EDIT: And just as I say that I beat the one in Sunken Valley. This game.

Circle him close, hugging his left side. You can chip him easy. And easly avoid any attack

It might be the right side

If you're talking about the elite swordsman in the dojo you can do like 95% of his posture by parrying his quick draw. Keep your guard up then tap parry when you see the little shine on his sword, which is usually the tell that the attack is coming out.

Then when you hit him one more time and he should be ready for a deathblow.

Just got the Platinum. After grinding to up my attack on the first playthrough, grinding the extra levels here was not particular fun. It’s not so much the grinding itself, but rather getting to the best spot for it on my 4th play-through involves beating some real cunty bosses.

Owl I think is just a bad fight. I didn’t particularly like it first time round and it doesn’t get any better with subsequent plays. You just have to wait the strawberry floater out doing chip damage, it really offers nothing new in terms of setting, style or combat. The Monk is the other one that pisses me off, again because it’s just so slow. You do so little damage and randomly none at all that the fight is just a chore. Especially when they inexplicably just 1 hit you despite the fact your holding block.

Seeing all the endings was cool and the extra boss fights are ok even if they are in a repeated location. I’m not sure what pushed me to get the Platinum, there’s something very satisfying about landing deathblows and when you can just boast through enemies it does make you feel pretty awesome.

Between this and Resi 2, both of which I’ve spent over 100 hours with and got the Platinum I think I’d have to say Resi 2 is my favourite. It’s close and DLC could swing it one way or another but I think there were just fewer moments of annoyance with that. The camera in particular.

Full Gourd and all Payer Beads :D

Some Headless and Sucky Warrior left - but I have 3 bosses and they all feel bullshit

Owl father, demon of hate and Sword Saint

Loads of health (or phases), take tiny damage and one strawberry float up (oh you thought it was attack #23? Didn't you spot his hands were at an angle? it was attack #14!)

For DoH try using the flame umbrella, makes the fight more manageable imo.

The other two are just about keeping the pressure up.

I've been playing this a bit lately. Just about got the hang of it now but still struggling with Lady Butterfly's second phase and that Bull. Enjoying it so far, but would prefer if it was a bit less boss-heavy. Basically less Souls and more Tenchu.

It's interesting in context of FROM's other games, with Bloodborne and now this they seem to be pushing players towards parrying.

Thought I'd give this another go because I'm bored. Just started on Wednesday evening and I'm breezing through it compared to the first time I played it where I stopped at the bull I think  I beat Lady Butterfly second go with minimal fuss (you can just basically dodge diagonally and stun lock her with minimal fuss in both phases) and I didn't have too much trouble with Genchiro either. The Great Ape was pissing me off until I realised you can use the spear to pull the centipede out for huge posture damage in his second phase.

I'm going through Ashina Castle for the second time now and I've beaten all the mini-bosses apart from the ones in this area and all the headless

I’d say so.
