Despite liking From’s games I hate that there are still bosses you kinda have to cheese. Demon’s Souls is perhaps the worst for it with even one of the Wikis for the game recommending cheesing strategies for several bosses.

i found Defiled Amygdala in Bloodborne the worst for this.
in phase 3 she/he rips her arms off and the arms get an AoE effect. so if you playing hit and run it becomes almost impossible. if you run close you get smacked or one-shot jumped on. however if you stand in a certain place it just jumps and doesnt hit you. rinse and repeat and it dies. nonsense boss.

Amygdala was bloody annoying, I didn't know about the special place to stand though - that would have been handy!

I've gone back and forth several times over picking up Sekiro, I've loved Bloodborne and the Souls games that I've played but for some reason am still hesitant about going for this.

I'm in the same boat. I really want to give this game a try as From Software's games are easily some of my favourite games ever but I've never got on well with parrying in action games and I'm scared that this one would be too much for me.

I'm pretty good at parrying in Bloodborne but I never got the hang of it in Dark Souls. The difference probably being that Dark Souls gives you an easier alternative to parries whereas it's hugely beneficial to get good at them in Bloodborne.

The problem with the game is unlike Souls, Bloodborne, Nioh and others like them. You can't grind. So you can do a couple of optional bosses but that's it. No way of getting last certain bosses without the skills to do it. The party system is very generous but it is still a tough game and a very regimented game. One way to play and if you don't get along with it then tough.

When it all clicks it's amazing and looks and feels great. But I hit a point near the end where I realized that I wasn't enjoying fighting the same boss countless times and dying again and again and again. So gave up.

It needs a difficulty slider or at least the ability to call in buddies to help.

Wish my image sig would work

This is the only From game where I've felt the need to cheese bosses if I just can't be arsed. In that video I posted above I was quickly grappling up the trees to get a stealth deathblow from above since that seemed like how the start was set up, apparently that was previously possible but was patched out. I only learned about that after trying it about 10 tries where I thought I was somehow getting the timing wrong, then thought strawberry float that when I found out I wasn't

Cheesed another one. You just hug the wall to get it stuck behind a tree then get it to fall off the edge

Yeah I can totally understand that for some of the button timing for boss parry combos.

If you buy all three parts of that dragon mask you can convert 5 skill points to increase your attack power by one. It seems like and Item meant for NG+ but seems like it can be handy near the end of a first playthrough after you've got all the skills you want. I've got 2 extra attack levels out of it.

I've not no problems cheesing some of the bosses in this for the reasons you mention, also I really can't stand boss fights with multiple health bars. I'm at the final boss now, haven't tried it yet but I know it's one fight with one phase, followed straight away by another with three phases so that'll absolutely be getting cheesed too if possible. There's still an optional one I've got to fight if I can be arsed as well, and I have all those Headless enemies and a few other of those spooky guys too that I just ignored previously. I've got all the prayer beads and gourd seeds thankfully.

Good game but I still think the early game is really poorly balanced. Mini-boss after mini-boss when you're health is tiny and you only have one or two health refills available and they don't really give you much anyway.

Play how you want to play but I can't help but think you're robbing yourself by not fighting some of these bosses properly. Demon of Hatred is one of my favourite fights ever and I still go pack to watch the capture I have of it.

Some of them I absolutely would have cheesed given an ability to do so though. I'm think Shojis and Headless where you have to beat them in a tiny area and the camera spazzes out like crazy.

I only cheesed the Corrupted Monk because it had three phases instead of two like all the other bosses I had fought so far, and one of the perfectly legitimate ways of removing one at the start had been patched out for seemingly no reason even though the mechanics of doing it were still there

Demon of Hatred I just couldn't be arsed because I had been playing all day :slol:

The camera is really bad at times, and has been for all of the Souls games. Resulted in me getting killed in both Guardian Ape fights, a few times vs Genchiro and a few others. Seems to go mental if you're locked on are anywhere near a wall when the enemy is close.

have you tried changing/adjusting the Auto-Camera near walls option? that was a feature in Dark Souls III that you could turn on/off - may help in some scenarios?

And completed. Last boss seemed intimidating at first but the first phase is a piece of piss, second was a bit annoying, and the third and fourth are just trivial with the umbrella prosthetic and projected force skill.

One trophy to go for the platinum and I need 27 skill points to unlock the rest of the skills :simper:

Yeah I did a lot of farming and reloading, even having played through it 3 or 4 times gets you nowhere near the required total. Which is bullshit.

I thought they would have balance it so that 4 playthroughs was enough for them all since there's four endings. I think I need 9 points for the rest. Best grinding spot I found is the Antechamber on the 3rd visit to Ashina Castle but you need to have not killed the ogre below on the previous visit. You stealth kill the ninja near the idol then go on the walkway above the ogre and use the finger whistle to attract the two enemies below resulting in the ogre killing them both. Gets you about 5700 XP in 20 seconds in NG+.

All the later skills feel kind of pointless since most people will never use them due to the grinding needed.
