It does look so neat but I'm not gonna drop sixty quid on it (console digital download). Will await a sale... and hope that a GRcadian does a stream in the meantime :-) .

you're getting this for £25 at GAME by trading in a selected game, and the list seems pretty generous in terms of older games https://www.game.co.uk/webapp/wcs/store ... t-_-Sekiro

Played an hour of this before work....

Th game has just started properly after the intro bits which are very good at introducing the mechanics of the world. At least the basic ones.

Being able to jump and fall without taking damage is great. Combat isnt really like a souls game, it's much more punishing. Stops spamming attacks and instead is a bit more like nioh which a focus on breaking someone's guard but instead of battering them it's more about timing and waiting for an opening.

It feels great and the controls feel very natural.

It's got the souls feel of just one more go and the feeling that every death is justified as the game gave me enough clues to beat an enemy.

So far, it's very good and feels like something different.

They value 1-2 Switch the same as Resi 2, no wonder they’re going out of business.

Played a couple of hours.

Felt a little stuttery to start off with, not framey as such, just the movement felt a bit blocky. It might be the exact same as SoulsBourne and taking a while to get used to, after a few hours already it’s feeling more or less fine. The combat takes a bit of getting used to as there’s a couple of meters you have to follow and it’s not immediately clear what each means. There’s also a few different ways of dodging and blocking, and early doors it’s pretty hard to keep track of them so it gets a bit button mashey. Seems like it’ll probably come with practice but so far there’s a lot to take in. The world and characters are both fantastic and I’m glad we get to play as a proper character rather than the disfigured monsters SoulsBourne forces you to create. Early impressions so far are better than any other From Software game I’ve played, looking forward to playing more.

They’re doing 25% extra on trade ins just now too and I got it on that offer.

Getting absolutely strawberry floated at the first time travel section. Finally got to the second beacon after having that white guard with the lance absolute slaughter me time after time. They’re so bloody quick and I seem to take damage whatever I do to try and block it. The red flash things also happen so quick I can’t react in time.

I’m going to have to go back and progress in the normal section where it was manageable, because this section feels way beyond me at the moment.

Did that apply automatically when they scanned your game at the till, Maf, or did you have to mention the offer to the staff member who served you?

I noticed Mafro has racked up a few of the early trophies... looking forward to hearing his initial thoughts on the game :-) .

They applied it automatically. I didn't even know about the extra 25% until he mentioned it.

Excellent, thanks.
Looks like I’ll be heading into town tomorrow then and saying goodbye to Pro Evo 2019. £25 for a sports title that came out in Sept is crazy. I only put it on when my mate comes over occasionally now and I’m sure he’ll cope with playing something different.

The combat is just so frenetic and minibosses just absolutely cain you. The permanent mechanic for dying I already feel may have broken this playthrough a bit. It feels like the time the game gives you to react to a special attack is not enough and leads you to try and cheese the enemies that do them which defeats any sense of achievement on beating them.

The balance just feels off at the moment.

Hmm reckon I’ll skip this and wait for Sucker Punch’s samurai game to fill my samurai needs.

I tend to get frustrated fast, hence the reasons I haven’t played Dark Souls or Bloodborne yet as I know I will not enjoy the game.

But then I have been hovering around the buy button on Amazon. I’ll just wait until it’s cheaper which seems to be more sensible.
