First off, I'd like to take the scientific high road and point out that land-based vertebrae are descended from the class Actinopterygii, whose evolved forms encompass all tetrapods, whereas sharks are Selachimorpha from the Elasmobranchi class. Which encompasses none.

No he is serious. In order for animals to colonise the land, it needs one brave creature to venture out of the water and test out what life is like in the air. This brave shark is the first of many to try this experiment and is going to be known as a pioneer of shark kind. Of course the whales have been testing for years but humans ruin the experiment by putting them back in the water.

Yep. The difference is that we know how that process occurred, and it wasn't due to one lone land mammal 'going against its instincts' and suddenly deciding that it's better, down where it's wetter, under the sea.

Whales are just sharks without teeth though. So your saying that sharks used to live on land but are shocked when one tries to go back to land?

I didn't realise I was scared of sharks until I went to Sea Life centre last week.

I used to be terrified when I was younger, but hadn't seen a shark since I was about 14 when I last went to Sea World, but last week I took the kids to Sea Life centre and as soon as I walked into the shark bit and there was this five foot shark staring at me I froze, came over in a cold sweat and had to shuffle through the tunnel bit looking at my feet.

Now every time I see so much of a picture of a shark it brings me out in a cold sweat.

Eh? They're still mammals though. So how come whales have to surface for air. Sharks don't as they're fish.
