Wow , already up to 2.2 million dollars. I didn't think it would take long though as so many people have been wanting this game for years.

Come on PS4 owners, lets unite, for this is stunning news and Sony have made it happen!

Shenmue 3 on the PlayStation 4 in a few years time.

How can any gamer on here not been pleased with this? It shows that they really are listening to us and not shoving crap down our throats like other companies!

I just can't bring myself to back at $300, essentially £200. As much as I want to back the project and would like the stuff, it's just tat. As much as I want to. And am still tempted to. Help.

£18 for the game is enough and is worth the gamble.

Will there be an Xbox/Wii U/Linux/Mac version for Shenmue 3?
Currently we are planning development only for PC (Windows) and PS4. Other platforms have not been decided yet.

Are there plans for the HD versions of Shenmue 1 & 2?
The property rights for Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 belong to SEGA, so we are not in a position to comment on that.

I doubt Sega will do remasters of Shenmue 1/2. At best, they'll just port it over without any enhancements, if we're lucky enough to see the light of those two titles.

It's a shame, as I loved the first one, but I never managed to finish the second one... It just doesn't have the same charm as the first. Wouldn't mind digging out my Dreamcast and play the first one again and finish off Shenmue 2 for the first time ever.

Have Sony given them anything except a soapbox to shout about their kickstarter from? Are they part-funding the project as well?

I still haven't actually watched any of the conferences so... :shifty:

Well its only coming out on PS4 and PC for now, so it would seem they have some involvement.

At the moment, it's a soapbox announcement.

Now with the Kickstarter goal smashed in less than a day, I'm sure we'll know more of what exactly Sony are doing. I doubt they are totally funding it as well, giving that it's heading to the PC as well (and they haven't RULED out any other formats in the future.) Maybe they are helping out by giving them equipment, coding or marketing... who knows?

Guess it's in exchange for "first on PS4" console-speak.

Having just finished uni and having no immediate income, i had to reduce my pledge to $175, but i'm personally a bit weirded out by that 'demo' video. It looks a bit cack IMO - the characters and faces.. me no like. but i completely expect it to change and have full faith in the team, given their experience.

Though I do want an explanation of the art direction, and as the posts above said, some discussion on sony's role at some point in the near future.

I can't physically manage to play most games these days as my disability has worsened to the point where I can only just use a mouse, anything which requires both hands is almost impossible for me to play.

The fighting and QTE parts of Shenmue are beyond my physical capability.

That doesn't necessarily mean Sony are involved though. It could be a business decision on the game developers part based on their current budget. More funding could mean a release on other formats.
