I'm in for $300 though a bit cheesed off at no Xbox version. Still PS4 is better than nothing so I'm in.

It's happening people - wooo!

Can someone explain to me the appeal of this series? I never had a Dreamcast or Xbox so I don't get the fuss.

It contains what is probably one of the most detailed worlds of any game I can think of, was incredible during its time and I'm amazed more games have not gone into that kind of level of detail since. Every person you saw you could interact with, you could go into a shop and pick up nearly anything and buy it, almost everything in that would could be interacted with or had some kind of purpose.
Not many games have tried to emulate a real world in the way Shenmue did, which is impressive as Shenmue came out in 1999.

It's been a really long time since I played Shenmue 1 (never had chance with the second) but from what I remember it was like Yakuza but with more of a focus on story than fighting.

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

In fairness sometimes it is difficult to see the context unless you were around at the time. The Shenmue release on Dreamcast was so innovative. A big-ish representation of a real world, the mags gushing about how you could do anything, get a job, live a life! etc. But if you look at it now not knowing anything about it you might just see a little action/adventure.

It makes sense to release Shenmue 1 & 2 HD.

EDIT: One hour after the conference has finished the game has hit $1 Million.

Ha, I like that. Nice to see some genuine excitement.

EDIT: strawberry float, $1.2 million already. The three $10000 rewards have already gone too. Jesus.
