Modern day slant (*sigh*) on Sherlock Holmes and co. starting Sunday. Luckily Steven Moffat is writing this Sundays episode so it should be brilliant.

I like most of the people involved in this - but the trailer leaves me cold.

Only 3 episodes too.

As well as it being modern day I think I read somewhere they toned down the drug use.

There's a lot of talented people behind it so I'm hoping it's better than the recent promos have made it look. I'll be watching on Sunday especially with this being a Moffat written episode

Robert Downey Junior isn’t that old.

It was direct to DVD, possibly made by the people who did Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.

I have no admiration for the concept - it's infantile - and am not surprised by the rumour of less drug references (it is of course a family show), but the two leads, strawberry float yes. Both Cumberbatch and Freeman are likeable and talented. I'm in. Until it gets gooseberry fool.

I know, I was trying to be funny.

I haven’t seen the dinosaur version of Sherlock Holmes. If it is anything like Megashark, then it will be strawberry floating awful but hilariously funny at the same time.

And your joke was funny, but I'm just adding more detail.

I'll be watching this but I wish the BBC had done somethng different instead of Sherlock Holmes. They could have done a TV adaption of a JD Carr book instead. :shifty:

Apparently Will Ferell and Sasch Baron Cohen were going to make a comedy Sherlock Holmes movie but then Guy Ritchie made his and so they cancelled it rather than risk it clashing at the box office.

I think Ferell was to play Watson with Cohen as Holmes. Could've been the best/worst thing ever depending on how much you like those two.

You wouldn't think Sherlock Holmes would work in a modern setting. Stuff like DNA testing, CCTV, computer data bases of suspects and a mobile phone to call for backup would make his skills a bit redundant.

This sort of looks like they didn't have the budget for sets and period dress.
