In a company-wide email sent to ZeniMax employees seen and verified authentic by TrueAchievements, Bethesda senior vice president Todd Vaughn announced that legendary game designer Shinji Mikami is leaving Xbox Game Studios' Tango Gameworks.

Wonder where he will go from here, back to Capcom maybe? I don’t see him starting another studio, maybe even going to Bokeh Studios?

Wow, big loss for Tango.

Not sure I can see him going back to Capcom but he obviously still has close ties with them. The guys hit rate is pretty much unrivalled so hopefully he gets to do what he wants, whatever that may be.

Can’t see any mention of retirement, just wishing him well for the future. Not sure how old he is but he has been in the industry a long time

He's 57 so would be young to retire

Ahh there you go then, I do wonder if he might just do consulting on projects? Rather than lock himself to another studio

Excitement - he's started a new company!

Shinji Mikami, the legendary developer behind Resident Evil and a string of other classics, has founded a new company.

Titled as KAMUY Inc., the new company was spotted in a biography for Mikami listed on the official Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered website.

(I retract my earlier statement.)

Maybe he got his old job back as the noodle robot in Diamond City.
