Shoveling gooseberry fool up hill?

What actions do you have to do occasionally that do nothing but serve to piss you off and seem pointless as chocolate teapots? I tried this thread on PG and it failed miserably because that place is dead, but I'm pretty sure you lot can discuss if a bit better.
