PostSiren Blood Curse

Thought I'd bring this across as I only posted in it at 0320 this morning.

I couldn't find a topic for this but thought it deserved its own rather than a few tidbits in the PSN store.

Anyway, Siren Blood Curse. It's great. After the rubbishness that was Alone in the Dark I can't tell you how chuffed I am that this has turned out 1) Good and 2) Creepy as hell.

For the unawares it's an old-school PS3 survival horror made my Keiichiro 'Silent Hill' Toyama where you take control of a group of Americans stranded in a cult-led Japanese mountain village. It's terrifying, looks great and is only £19.99 to download it off the PSN store. *benstillerdoit.gif*

I've just finished Chapter 6 and the more I play, the more I love it. I can't follow the wacko-jacko story for sh*t but it really is ace. Comfortably up there with the best of the PS3 titles, at least if you can deal with the slightly rubbish downloading.

So, er, yeah, discuss.

And my last post in the topic...

Very good. There were some pretty annoying bits in it that seemed to rely on trial and error, sometimes luck. Which is a shame, but for the most part it was superb. sh*t-scary and while the story was complete nonsense, it started becoming entertaining enough to make me want to know just what the smeg was going on.

8/10, would have been a 9 if not for a few crappy sections.

Yeah, there's a couple of weak points. What about that ending, eh? Mental.

I'll bung you a link to my review if you're interested, fella. Will you be covering it for the Telegraph?

Yeah, do.

I'm not sure yet if I'll cover it. Maybe a blog at least. I certainly liked it enough to champion it as much as I can. That way we might see Siren 2 'translated'.

Yeah, the ending was complete fruitcake. But in a weird way, also made perfect sense.
Thing is, given that the game as a whole was batshit mental, that the end seemed to go balls out for it didn't bother me too much!

Great game though on the whole. Exactly my type of thing, I was disappointed in a few bits, which means I could never hold it up to Silent Hill 2. But other than that, it's probably my favourite horror game, certainly in the last couple of years at least.

From what I've played so far, I seriously hope they do the same and release a sequel on the PSN.

I'm enjoying it so far, stuck on Chapter 4 at the moment.

There does seem to be a lot of escort missions though, luckily the AI seems to be quite good and doesn't get in the way like in many games.

My playtime was actually 14hours!

I think most people managed it quicker than that, but you're still looking at at least 10 hours, which isn't bad for twenty notes. Replay wise, there are awards and stuff to get for each chapter if you're a completionist type of guy, and you get more pieces for the archive to fill in the story's many, many, many blanks.

Sounds good. Length of the game was one of things holding me back so think Ill go for this now....and yeah I like to get the most of a game I can so would probably go for the rewards.

Cheers :D

There's replay value if you didn't collect all the archive items (or if you completed it on Easy and want to try a harder difficulty). It took me around ten hours, perhaps slightly more.

Crash - http://www.gamerzines.com/downloading-p3zine_18.html - that's my review. I gave it 88%.

I'm still slowly making my way through this. I like the chapter setup, since I can play a chapter every couple of days without feeling I'm losing focus on the game. I was planning on blitzing a fair bit of it this weekend but I've been too busy.

Maybe tonight!

I think I got lucky during that part. There's one spot where you can seemingly get them all from. Assuming you're talking about the same bit as I am. Otherwise, it might be the one where you're able to block some off by pushing something in the way of...something.

I've been meaning to download this for sometime, although I might just hold off until the Bluray version due to my ISP's download limits.

I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed the demo, the game oozes atmosphere and the shooting mechanic is very satisfying.
