In fairness, everything about the post apart from the bolded part is a perfectly valid reason why it doesn't have it's own thread. It is a wonderful, brilliant story that should be watched by all who love good drama- certainly one of the three best US Dramas I've ever seen*. But it also finished six years ago, which is why it doesn't have it's own topic on a forum which began in 2008.

*Alongside The Wire and The Sopranos, in the least suprising news you've read all month.

I wasn't seriously question why it didn't have it's own thread, I just thought it would be a good line to open with to justify making the thread in the first place.

It's great that Sky Atlantic are airing the entire the series, really hoping it's finding an audience over here.

My wife and I tend to watch a few boxsets of US dramas a while after they first began. We loved the West Wing and the lesser known Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. We have just got up to season 6 of House MD.

Would this be another good one to try? If not, what else would people recommend?

Loved this show. I wouldn't say that it was the best TV series ever, but it did have the best final episode that I have ever seen.

This thread inspired me to watch the pilot, which I thoroughly enjoyed (Minus the gay kissing bit  )

I'll probably get onto the rest of the season pretty soon.

It's currently being shown on Sky Atlantic.

Anyway it's one of my favourite shows, and i'd say the last 2 seasons are the best television i've ever watched.

I agree with my buddy brother, nothing can top the last two seasons for me.

Best show ever.

It's a worth a shot, especially if you want something a little different. It's a very unique blend of drama.

Yeah, season 4 is insanely brilliant, and season 5, especially the last few episodes, is just fantastic, after what I felt was a bit of a lull; Nate's relationship with Brenda, and another of Nate's marriages slowly falling apart was well executed, but a bit of a retread of seasons 2 and 3. Which incidently was another lull for the show, despite, once again, a superb final few episodes.

Man, those guys knew how to pull off a finale! Not just the series finale, but the induvidual season finales :lol: - the coach pulling up for Nate in his surgery dream! Nate's gut-wrenching grief counterposed with George and Ruth's marriage! And my favourite;

What am I supposed to do?

What do you think? You can do anythng you lucky bastard, you're alive! What's a little pain compared to that?

It can't be so simple.

What if it is?

Forgot how annoying Brenda can be with her strawberry floating near constant psychoanalysis of Nate and her's relationship. :x

Just watched a few more episodes. A few thoughts on the show so far.

Dave is turning out to not be as much of a wanker as I originally thought.
The mother is the worst character in anything ever.
Nate is one cool mummy strawberry floater.
I would do unspeakable things to Brenda.

She's just such a prude, boring old woman.

I mean, she's not even a MILF

Opinions are liable to change, however. I am only around 4 episodes in. :D

She's far from boring, as you will see in time.

I only thought the last 2 seasons were really good.

The finale is strawberry floating astonishing though, almost worth ploughing through the whole lot just to experience it.

Nearly finished S1. Addicted all over again.

Series finale spoilers: Honestly think I'll have to stop myself towards the end of S5. Don't if I can put myself through Nate's death and the final montage again.

This just arrived:

It's brilliant from what I've read so far. It's a collection of photos and in-universe articles, like letters written by characters, excerpts from Nathaniel & Isabel ect. Adds a huge amount of background detail to the already extremely fleshed out cast. It's an essential purchase for fans.
