Can't have me cancel two packages at once!

They really are a joke.

I don't think you can make two changes to your account separately within 31 days.

If I were to call up I would be able to cancel Sports and Movies together, I've done it before.

Yeah but if you cancelled one and then rang 10 mins later to cancel the other I think they'd tell you it wasn't possible.

My picture has been playing up recently so I eventually got round to calling them up. After establishing an engineer visit is needed (what I knew, but played along with their attempts to fix it) I was told because my box was from 2013 and had no insurance the visit would be £65. I said that I'm not paying that as I pay almost £500 per year. I'm then told as I've been a customer for 15 years they can reduce it to £30! I said I'm not paying that either, basically send someone at no cost or I'm cancelling, which is what they are doing. For anyone offered insurance, don't bother - Sky will always fix or replace your box for free rather than lose a customer.

So moving on Friday, phoned them up and said I was leaving as prices have just kept going up to £90 a month and I can get better...

Suddenly I've got the HD Package, the Movies Package added on and dropped my bill by over £20 a month! Plus they're doing my home move engineer for free and straight away on the Saturday morning!

Looks like it's another 12-months with Sky then.

Should have stuck with it, every week I am getting a new offer to come back.

I am currently being offered 60% off for a year and a free Samsung tablet.

I'm not going to go back it is amasing the level they are going to in offers.

To be honest with everything else needing sorted for moving house I didn't really want to drag it out. It's stressful enough as it is!

Fair enough, I have only moved twice so not really experienced it all.

The first was when I moved out then I was moving into my mums house that i later bought and everything was setup so I just needed to move all the bills into my name.

And still the offers keep on coming!

Oooooh, this one's tempting. They're effectively paying me to watch Sky Sports for 10 months.

If you have BT Sport on sky the price will be rising to £23.99 per month with HD. But if you sign up to a new 12 month contract then they will give you a discount of £5 per month and 3 months HD free

Incredibly Sky have just announced ANOTHER price increase, officially to be announced before the end of March (21st looking likely) and rising on 1st June 2016. All Sky packages, including the new SkyQ service, to increase by "up to 10%".

I guess we now know why Sky Sports Mix has also just been announced...

Didn't it just go up a couple of months back? If they do, think I'll just call and cancel. They can then either knock something off the price or I'll be Netflix only.

I am tied into a deal until the summer. Once that it is up I am off unless they offer me something decent.

Sky will soon be like a DFS sofa or a takeaway pizza - nobody pays the RRP!

My family just switched to Virgin Media because of this after being with sky as long as I can remember.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I'm stuck with them until November but have pre-emptively cancelled so that it just cuts off once the contract is up.

Pretty pissed off with them I phoned up to cancel just before Christmas as both internet and TV were constantly playing up. I got a new box, dish, router and some money off my bill. This locked me in for 12 months but I figured it'd be fine with everything being new...

WRONG[/Luthor]

Things started playing up a couple of weeks ago and I phoned up to tell them to bolt and cancel everything. Because of the new 12 month contract though, they completely refused.

I ended up on the phone with them for an hour, but they weren't budging and kept pushing for me to receive a "free" engineer call out.

The closest I got was them agreeing to cancel if the engineer couldn't resolve the issue. Of course, he did. I could have taken it further but everything I suggested was met with a counterpoint where I ended up with their option being the one I had to take. They wouldn't even let me pay an early cancellation fee, stating that this was "fictitious information" when I said I'd been told this when I first said I wanted to cancel.

Tl;dr - Sky are a bunch of underhanded fuckwits and I'll be glad to get shot of them.

I'm really not a fan of Virgin Media. The TiVo box can be really annoying and they're own price increases are ridiculous. It's like a steady stream of asking you to pay £5 more every 6 months, they're a bloody joke.

people saying they are tied in to a contract. Surely if sky raise their fees you are allowed to cancel!?

Otherwise Sky coul just raise your bill by ££££ and there would be nothing you could do.

I've got Sky's all inclusive TV package with Movies & Sport. And a multi room sub. Currently pay £62 a month :shifty: :dread:

However I've recently got on the NowTV bandwagon and got the 6 mth Entertainment pack about a month ago. Cost just £25 incl the box from Argos. The fact it has Sky 1, Atlantic and Living all included means we can watch the stuff in the bedroom we like such as Blindspot, Blacklist, GoT, Lucky Man, Modern Family. That's 90% of what we record other than Movies.

Just bought a 2nd NowTV box with 4 mths Movies off Amazon for £24.99 for use in the kitchen meaning we should get Entertainment and Movies in both rooms for just £50 for 4-6 mths incl 2 boxes.

As soon as Sky contract expires, I'll ditch both Sky boxes and get 2 more NowTv boxes for the lounge and the kids playroom. Total cost for 12mths should be about £100 for 4 NowTV boxes, 12 mths Entertainment & 8 mths Movies. I'll miss the sport but might take advantage of cheap 2 mth sport subs if they appear at Argos, Amazon etc

Sky can strawberry float off with their 10% rise

In the small print which nobody reads they're allowed to up it by a maximum of 10%.

While I'm in a deal they won't (or bloody well shouldn't!) raise prices. Once my deal is over then I will have to get another deal, pay their new inflated prices or cancel.
