Time to threaten cancelling and see what they do.

Same here mine going up by £4.50.

I'm now seriously contemplating shocking them with a "I want to cancel the whole damn lot" and wait if they send a letter with 50% off. A few people I've seen have managed 75% from them.

I'm going to do it at the end of next month. I shall report back on what they come up with.

I got a 75% off letter a month before getting it for free. That was about 3 years after last cancelling it mind.

Sky's retentions team are the most powerful people in the entire company. Go for it.

Sky and I dance the same dance every year. I got offered sports, hd, variety pack and access to on-demand for £35 p/m three years ago and every year since when it is up for renewal they try to up it to £60 odd quid then I call them they say the best they can do is £50 blah blah blah, cancel it and two weeks later I get a call offering the same deal. It's happened for three years, soon to be four.

This.

Except they have lost champions league now and will never sort out my borked sky box. That means I will no longer be bothering with the game and just outright cancelling.

Just tell them you're cancelling because your box is no longer working. There's a good chance they'll give you a new one for free. If not, then you've lost nothing since you wanted to cancel anyway.

Hell, I only had broadband and phone with them, and when I cancelled that they were offering me crazy TV packages to stay. She was really missing the point when I told her I wasn't spending more than £25 a month.

Hell, even if you just use NowTV, it's worth cancelling it every few months just so they'll drop the prices to keep you on. You have to get past about four screens where the 'progress' button is worded to the effect of "No, I still want to cancel" while they grow more desperate. I only know this cos I cancelled the movies last month, and the entertainment today. Could have got the Entertainment for £15 for three months, but I don';t watch much TV in the summer.

Either way, a price hike of £4.50 a month on the big packages is crazy money when you consider what it already costs. I'm glad I've never bothered with a dish, TBH.

Been there, done that. Got a replacement reconned old HD box that doesn't have the grunt to run the new bloated UI.

Rupert had his chance and has blown it.

Would love to know the percentage of customers not paying the full RRP.

Last time I cancelled they gave me a 2TB box and no contract, you should ask them to throw it in.

How long ago was that? Last time I did this (AUgust 14) they wanted to lock me in for two years (no champions league? Yeah right!) to just replace like for like!

I wittled them down for a like for like after an engineer call out and for me not to cancel there and then.

I genuinely thought that my box was just knacked. Box was a the same pile of gooseberry fool I had before. So laaaaaaaaggggy.

It was last April/May time. They even brought it up to me that they'd give me one of their up to date boxes. Yeah the CL is a big one for me also

£83.03 a month (still £20 cheaper than Sky). It's just...ridiculous. [emoji38]

Literally the only downside to BT is you can only get Sky Sports 1 and 2, and it's not in HD. NowTV will go HD in the next few months (apparently...& at a TBA cost).

Does the NFL pass include the SuperBowl and playoffs?

Is that the family package? If so, I'm getting over charged. :x

Sky changed their package structure a few years ago. I'm on Variety, Sports & the HD pack which is the same channel wise, I think, as their current Family pack. They changed it so the separate HD pack (which was £10) was scrapped for new customers & included in Family. To get Sky Sports in HD now you have to have the Family pack & the new HD pack which is just for Sky Movies/Sports & is about £5.50 or something like that.

Sky F1 used to be available individually I think...I dunno, I've lost track of their clusterfuck of a tier system. I've now got kids & music channels when I don't bloody want them.

I'm on the same - Variety plus the legacy HD pack, (minus the Sports which I add and remove for the NFL season and sometimes get a deal/sometimes not). I'm careful to stay on this legacy pack as Sky F1 HD is included, whereas if you inadvertently change to a new bundle configuration you only get F1 included with Sky Sports.

The price increase seems ok to me. I'm on TV, Phone and broadband, and the service I get is great - the Sky Hub and On Demand stuff works very well. Variety and HD gives me all the channels I want, me and the Mrs watch loads of Sky1 and Sky Atlantic US series, I even get something out of the kids channels as I watch Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD

I'm also on half price HD pack at the moment as I did a thing where you logged onto your online My Sky and "pretend" to cancel and you get a series of "sorry to see you go" pages that end up offering you discounted HD for a few months.

Giving the sport stuff on NowTV a go for the first time this weekend with the F1. So far I'm impressed, the quality isn't as good as Sky was but seen as this setup costs me £10 a race and £0 a month compared to £55 a month I can with it :D

Been about a week now without Sky and got to say I don't miss it at all. Cancelling it only confirmed for me that 90% of my TV watching is the Free To Air channels and for anything like Blacklist etc. I use my Plex server so yeah, loving it all :D
