What an ending befitting the series... Utterly pants. Granted, the last few minutes were good fun, but the rest of the episode was just so bland and forgettable.

Even the return of Lex was a bit of a let-down. Darkseid was a COMPLETE let down.

I was happy that they didn't have any full shots of Clark wearing the suit and flying. It was clear that they didn't have the budget to make it look good, so the compromise worked perfectly.

All in all, glad it's all over. Won't be re-watching it.

Just take it for what it is. The show was always about Clark Kent, not Superman. But the ending was fantastic.

Massive spoiler:

That bit was pretty much worth the 10 year wait, right?

No chance of a Superman series to carry on then?

It would have been awesome, if they'd hidden the fact the series was carrying on by 'cancelling' Smallville and replacing it with Superman.

Pretty much my feelings.

There were several goosebump moments (such as the Clark flashback scene showing bits from the last 10 seasons) and there were definite mega-super-goosebumps at the end. The final few shots and indeed the final 10 minutes were the perfect payoff. The suit! Flight! Superman! strawberry float Yeah.

I liked how it started, with successive scenes at the Daily Planet, Luthor Mansion and Kent Farm and doing all the expected payoff scenes between all the characters. Enjoyed the Lex scenes, Darkseid Zombie Lionel was a bit ridiculous and it's a shame there was no Lionel-Lex interaction. I didn't really care that the Superman/Darkseid fight was so quick. Let's face it, this season has never really been about Darkseid, it's been about Clark final metamorphosis into Superman.

I almost celebrated the fact that in some parts it was very typical Smallville. I mean, that's what we've watched for the last 10 years, it's not suddenly going to become anything different. So I even enjoyed the kinds of scenes I normally cringe at.

If I was nitpicking then I'd like to have heard the word Superman a bit more as well as the 'Is it a bird' line.

Also, who the hell were all those random people at the wedding?

Goodbye Smallville and goodbye Smallville Thread, it's been an honour.

A huge thanks to those who have provided the episode download links over the years. Seriously, it's been appreciated.

So putting this here rather than comic thread

Anyone reading the series 11 comics? Just read up to 6 and it's not terrible.

Once you get away from the art looking NOTHING like the actors, it's not been that bad. Quite "Ultimate Superman" in style.

I didn't think much after the first two or so, but it's picked up now and I'm quite enjoying it. The art's improved too, with characters at least vaguely resembling the actors at last. Unlike Buffy Season 8, the subject matter has meant that the lack of budget restrictions has really helped now that Clark is doing the full on Superman thing.

I'm buying the print issues which I think contain three digital issues each. I quite like it so far.

I like what I've read so far. I too am getting the print issues. I think it's captured the characters from the show pretty well.

I remember watching the pilot during uni times and now its finally finished? I stopped at season 4 iirc as it started getting a bit boring, but may get the complete blu ray box set. Kristen Kreuk is just stunning.

Not sure I should watch the ending with 6 or so seasons to watch...

I think that's around the time it moved almost entirely to Metropolis and started introducing other heroes. It never really becomes amazing, but it does build up some compelling arcs and remains very watchable to the end.

As for Kristen Kreuk, I guarantee you'll be sick of her before too long. :x

Definitely :x

And yeah, I watched Smallville from the start but it was pretty average until Lois was introduced and it moved to the city. The final season was really disappointing, I thought.

The finale :fp:

I think seasons 8 and 9 were by far my favourites.

The problem is with Smallville is that Clark Kent didn't bother to diguise himself.

Is that a bird? Is that a plane? WTF! IS THAT CLARK KENT?!?

I would find it hard to believe that years down that Lex Luthor wouldn't recognise his "best mate."
