Smallville loves pointless drama. They'll get married next week, blates.
I thought that was an alright episode.
Somewhat bemused that Jor-el admits Kara could defeat Darkseid herself but Clark needs something to do so he should. Does that shot of Olly with the gold K add more fuel to the theory that he's going to be Darkseid's host?
Anyway, two hour finale with Lex next week!

Quite gutted it's ending, think it's the first show I've ever watched from the very start all through for this long.
Hope they do carry it on in some form afterwards, even an occasional TV movie or something would be awesome.

I'd watch a Booster Gold spin-off about him protecting the timestream. Although a good live action Batman show is my chief hope.

It was pretty much average/good Smallvile - equal parts cheesey sentimental homage and action adventure. Too much talk, not enough show. (Darkseid "fight" is worse than Doomsday!!!)
It was never going to be quite the finale we all wanted - TV budgets and all that - but it ended up being OKish.
It's not going to be on any greatest TV finale ever lists - but it was a pleasant 2 hour watch. Don't think I'll rewatch, or try and think to hard about it!
Spoilers!
So something like 200 hours of pep talks, and Darkseid's defeated by 1 punch? I'm still not quite sure how the "abstract" threat of Darkseid/Darksides/Omega people was meant to be so threatening, or why the sybols suddenly disappeared. Clark didn't seem to do much to "be the light" by that point - felt about 5 minutes too early
Good to see the suit/flying. Yes it was crappy CGI, but it's a TV show.
Tess continues to kick ass. She was the only one doing anything for the first 40minutes of the show! She "had" to die by the end, but I'm happy with her character arc. It did sort of feel that she only really had to die for a "dramatic" moment in the finale
Pa Kent's back! (Sort of) - and by jove he bought the platitudes!
Lex/MR was great throughout the episode. He was only in about 3 scenes, but seemed to bring his A game.
I wish the show could decided what makes us who we are. Family, Friends, Enemies, Blood, Nature? It seemed to flit between them all. I thought they might be "answering" the question with the Lex/Clark scene, but then there's a long talk about how Clark's family/friends made him the hero he is....and then Lex loses all his memories...yet he STILL turns evil - so surely that's nature, not environment? GAH. Silly inconsistent show. Also love that fact they made7 years of "writing"/character growth worthless!
Missed all the other heroes/Clark leading them straight into battle
HOW THE HELL IS THERE A SMALLVILLE COMIC? Doesn't that blow Clark's identity?
Chloe survived the series! \o/ And Alison Mack get herself back in the credits (no one else did). You go girl! I would have liked to see some trace of her "spunky investigative report" side in the future though, rather than domestic housewife
The "7 years later" scene was nice. TrueJimmy was there, think I heard Perry. From Memoryless clone to President in 7 years? You go girly! And Clark/Lois have been what? Pretending not to know each other for 7 yearS?
The above all sounds a bit negative, but I did enjoy the episode. It's "series ending role" made it more than the sum of it's parts.
I think, all in all, we didn't get anywhere near the best Finale we could have had. But given the creative team/budget limitations I think we probably got near the best Finale it was possible to have.

Pretty much my thoughts although after ten years I've learned to ignore the many plot-holes. I liked how even at the end , the first episode was almost entirely skippable. Oh Smallville.
Second episode was substantially better with Michael Rosenbaum being awesome even if Darkseid did nothing after an entire season of doing nothing. He's meant to be one of the biggest threats in the DCU and he got totally jobbed. I would have preferred to have Lex featured far more but I'm just glad he was there.
I think it was probably a good move for there not to be a clear scene of Welling in the Superman suit as it looked pretty stupid in Returns. And I did get some Returns flashbacks watching this but this was infinitely better than Returns.
Shame about Tess, one of the few character who actually knew what she was doing most of the time.
Despite all the flaws though, I did really enjoy this finale and feel it's a fitting tribute to Smallville. One of the alternatively most infuriating and entertaining shows of the past few years. And it ensured that DC characters featured in live action TV for 10 years, which is an achievement. Let's hope the new live-action Batman series which will hopefully be made one day learns from Smallville's mistakes.

The thing that reminded me most of Returns...
Yeah let's just push the big ball of evil/ever expanding land mass off into space in a total random direction. Hopefully it a) won't end up destroying like, 11 other planets and b) won't bite us in the ass when it invariable comes back later

Yep. Apparently the planned Superman Returns sequel was going to resolve that.
