I play a lot of SNES stuff and its split 3 ways some of its on a hacked SNES mini, some is on a real SNES with a mix of real carts and an everdrive and some is on a 2DS using a flash cart. The SNES mini is great for taking to other peoples houses or if you need to stay in a hotel. In honesty despite bring a collector I think most people are better off grabbing a mini instead of an old system.

Do you play 50hz games on the real SNES and 60hz elsewhere? Or do you stick to one? I'm wondering if it's jarring going back and fourth.

I nodded my SNES so it runs at 60hz or to be more accurate I repaired a broken SNES and then nodded it and painted it, it was stained to heck so I thought why not, occasionally I will pull out the normal SNES for games which have issues basically starwing and an asterix game I have...

The most jarring thing is a master system 2 I have, I put a 50/60hz switch in that and you can flip it while playing

I think this and the SNES/NES games on the Switch has taught me recently that unless I have a strong emotional attachment to the games then I just don't get on with playing some of this retro stuff any more.

Not sure if I've just lost patience or changed in my appreciation of games in some way but most of what I have tried to get into playing recently from the Switch online selection I have just bounced off.

Played another hour of ALTTP tonight. It's so good. I didn't realise (as it's been about 25 years) that you could get certain items so freely so early. I'm on my way to the third pendant and I've already got the ice rod, super boomerang and flippers, all of which I don't remember having until a lot later in the game.

The controllers are so good with it too, it really feels like you're playing on real hardware and it's the real game, whereas the joycons and nature of the switch just feels like emulation to me, if that makes sense.
