So... moustaches (along with dodgy 80s perms and high top fades) seem to be making a comeback

Anyone noticing this trend on teens and celebs lately?

It's something I've not seen on young men for a couple of decades now. Remember my dad, his friends and my teachers sporting them in the 80s and early 90s, then something happened, Freddie Mercury ditched his and they disappeared overnight.

Well, it appears that they're back.

A guy came into work the other day with a moustache that looks applicable to a gentleman from the 1920s it was even curled. It was amazing.

Think I noticed it in McDonalds in a couple of months back. There was a group of teens and 2 of the lads were sporting them complete with clean shaved chins.
On even had the typical number one undercut but with some kind of 80s perm plonked on top

The pompodour undercut complete with hipster beard seems to have been the big trend this past decade but I can't tell if it's going anywhere yet, I ditched my beard for a clean shave last year and the pompodour's kinda just flopped down into more of a side parted 90s curtains effort.

I noticed hipsters were putting effort into curling the ends of their moustaches and to emphasise it they've taken away the surrounding beard (think Daniel Day Lewis in gangs of New York).

The ones I'm seeing these teens sporting now is a pretty short varient though.

People in Stoke look like they haven’t moved on from 1986?

I’m shocked.

Moustaches never went away in Liverpool, neither did perms.

Young American guys seem to be getting perms and mullets these days, according to the chatty hairdresser I saw last week. :dread:

Holy gooseberry fool yes I've noticed this, I was waiting to have my hair cut some time before Christmas and this 18 year old looking guy was having one done.

As soon as he left I asked if he'd asked for that and whether he'd been watching repeats of Bullseye. Apparently a few have been asking for it.

We still blame Thatcher for everything.

Most kids/teens around here have been sporting this haircut for the last 8 years, the kind of look grandad has in his world war 2 photos (or even worse, Vanilla Ice).

The cycle of fashion over the decades and comebacks always seems somewhat random.

The recycling of fashion never ceases to amaze. I remember when plaid shirts, skinny jeans, Converse and Vans came back a decade ago, things that were big in the 80s and seemed to die along with Kurt Cobain. All of a sudden college kids were buying into that look again.

I don't know what on earth triggered it, 80s nostalgia, shows like Stranger Things? Marty McFly would've fitter better into this decade better than the other two pervious ones.

The latest thing I've spotted is a return to baggy 90s sport swear, Elesse tops, Fila bulky trainers and Adidas poppers, the kind of stuff we wore as 90s kids. A look that we laughed at when we looked back at our old school photos.

A friend of mine does this, even going so far as to wear a full suit, tie and flat cap to casual social gatherings. He looks like he's just got back from tying a woman to the railroad tracks.

The only reason I have a beard is because I'm lazy and I strawberry floating hate shaving.
I wait until I look like a homeless person and then I shave.

My dad has had a Burt Reynolds esque moustache for the past 40+ years, he once shaved it off when I was about 2 and ended up having to grow it back because I apparently didn't recognise him without it and has basically kept it the same style ever since.

I take Peters approach to shaving, I leave it util people start throwing loose change at me.

If people want a moustache then fair enough, but I'm never going to leave them alone with a child

This is an interesting comment.
Would having a moustache make someone less trustworthy than someone covered in tattoo's?
How about someone with a random mohican hair cut or worse yet a mullet?

Having tattoos makes you more trustworthy, much easier to identify
