Online baby classes must be really weird. I think I’d really struggle to engage fully with them, even more so than with most things that have moved to video calls.

NCT courses via zoom are a weird experience.

They are weird anyway.

I hated them felt it was a total waste of time and that most of other people were stuck up want to be posh people. They would have been more useful if they gave fact based answers but every answer to every question seems to be “if you feel” or “if it works for you” which wasn’t in any way helpful.

Ours seemed OK, the teacher leading the session was pretty focused on the facts, and was just being careful not to put down any alternative options people might want to go for. Most of the group seemed more concerned with what pain relief was available and how it worked, than anything too left field, although at least one couple are aiming for a water birth.

I think we're obviously going to really miss out on the more practical lessons as well, but we're lucky that the mother in law used to be a midwife, so we'll still get plenty of coaching.
I think we were just hoping to find other parents near us who we'd be able to talk to, going through the same things, but it's definitely more difficult to make small talk with strangers on a group video call. :dread:

My almost three three year old is obsessed with a couple of books at the moment, and perhaps not the ones you might expect:

Lord of the Flies by William Golding
How to Win Friends and Influence people by Dale Carnegie

What sort of potentially deadly child am I raising?

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Sounds like something that happens to kids who have an animation hating father.

Let your kid watch a Disney movie instead of American Psycho!

We have Disney+ so she usually has a film a day.

Over Christmas I taught my son (4 years old ) and nephew (he's 5) the Boris Johnson song by The Kunts. I am a responsible father/uncle though and taught them the radio edit version.

My son keeps singing it, but is confused if Johnson is on telly. "He's not a sausage roll! He has eyes!"

We did a video call with my nephew last night and before saying hello he was singing "Boris Johnson is a sausage roll" at me.

Brainwashing is awesome 8-)
