My daughter started school 2 weeks ago and has been off a week off that with sickness. I've now got it and have spent the last 2 days not being able to keep anything down.

Kids. :x

Schools. :x :x :x

After a distressing and exhausting last couple of days, I am in awe of my wife, who gave birth to our 7lbs 5oz son this morning, two weeks early. :msgreen: :toot:

I feel delirious and overwhelmed with love .

Thanks everyone :msgreen:.

Just had the most incredible 10.5 hours sleep, but woken up to very distressed messages from my wife. She caught 2-3 hours on Friday night but since then has had nothing and she appears to be going out of her mind. We ended up C-section due to complications and from her messages it sounds like she might have damaged her wound. The hospital is letting me visit early but still not until 10am. I'm feeling very guilty.

My wife had an emergency C-Section with our first born (he was 10lbs 8 oz at birth!) and as a result she was in a terrible state for a couple of weeks after. She stayed in hospital for a few days and then had to sleep downstairs at home for over a week as she couldn't climb stairs as a result of the operation for a while.

It's simply awe-inspiring what these women put themselves through and cope with to bring another human being into the world

I'm sure with plenty of rest she'll soon be OK. Just do all / as many of the nappy changes and feeds (if you're bottle feeding) as you can and let her heal.

Congrats again

Congrats on the arrival. Don't feel guilty about grabbing sleep whilst your wife is in hospital, you're going to need it in a few days as she won't be able to do so much for the next few weeks once she's home. Even something as simple as picking up the baby is going to be difficult for her. When my wife was in hospital after having our first, I stayed up until around 2am finishing off Resi 4. Really regretted it 2 days later when I got 2 hours sleep on their first night home!

My wife had a c-section. She was overdue and so had to be induced and our son's heartbeat became irregular when she started labour.

I just remember it being really efficient, they decided to do the c-section, we were taken to the operating theatre and half an hour later I was holding our baby.

The downside is that she couldn't lift anything for a couple of weeks after, but it's not like she ever lifts anything heavy anyway.

Don't feel guilty about getting sleep, you might not be getting much sleep for the next few years, get it when you can!

My wife had a C-section too, was in labour in a hospital room for 2 days, then on induction drugs for 18 hours and progress wasn't happening, eventually they realised littleun was backwards and not wanting to move (I mean seriously why did it take 3 days not including the day and a half of backwards and forwards to the hospital.....), finally they wan let's do surgery and yeah as Moggy said all done in what seemed liked no time, surgical team were great and chatty the whole time, had beegees playing in the theatre was almost fun.

But yeah don't feel guilty about sleep, you won't get sod all soon and it would be better to be fully rested when they get home all hell breaks loose.

We were told it'd take a couple of days. We double checked that they didn't think there was any chance of it happening that day and we were told "it probably won't even be tomorrow!".

So I went home to get some sleep. An hour or so later I had to rush back after getting a phone call letting me know labour had started.

I remember the taxi driver being really happy when I said we were having a boy. "Very good! Very good! You will have boy! Very good!". Everyday sexism, but he got me back to the hospital quickly so I still tipped him.

Congratulations Ob Bob!

Do not feel guilty about sleeping while you can. Your wife will be exhausted when she gets home, so you'll need to be as rested as you can to let her rest and recover. How long is she being kept in hospital for? Hopefully the nurses on the ward can help out a bit. I know when my wife was in after her C-section, the nurses took our son off her for a couple of hours a few times overnight, just so she could get some rest.

Congrats Ob Bob! Try not to feel guilty, it’s completely out of your control. And enjoy the journey, paternity leave (I assume you’re taking some) is joyous and I’d recommend taking as much time as you realistically can.

Bet you can’t wait to get him a season ticket at the City Ground in a few years.

Thanks again for all the kind messages .

I brought them both home yesterday late afternoon. He is a happy, very hungry and very sleepy little baby . Already met both sets of grandparents.

I took over last night to let my wife sleep. I handed over around 6am, caught a couple of hours myself and I even had another couple of hours this afternoon so not doing too badly.

I'm not quite sleepy enough to miss the football jibes. I am taking names and my revenge will be swift .
