Apologies to Poser for hijacking his thread, but rather than make another topic, I thought I would just use this one. My wife will be 14 weeks pregnant tomorrow and we are both stupidly excited and happy about it. Because of what happened last year we had a very early scan to check the baby was in the correct place and last week had the usual 12/13 week scan. All good and all looks healthy and normal.

Now it is time for me to grow up. :dread:

I somehow managed to miss this. Congrats mate - and congrats on it being a boy. It's nice to get it right first time, and beheadings can be so messy.

Is it unusual to ask for the sex? Anyway it would have been more difficult to not see, he's a big boy like his daddy. ;)

My mother didn't want to know for either child. Nurse still told her both times, both times they were wrong

This reminds me of years ago when a friend called me to see if I wanted to be the godfather to his child, due in approx 9 months.

I've just had sex, do you want to be the godfather?

Yes?

Congratulations.

But if you take that boy anywhere near Ashton Gate, I'll report you for child abuse! ;)

Final scan today, less than a month til due date. He's 5lb13. He had been in a stupid transverse position, but is fine now, so that's a relief.

Crazy facial detail on the scan, mind.

Your not inflicting them on us when you post them in the baby thread.

We are going for a posh 3D scan on Saturday, I can't wait to see what my little one is going to look like. We will be 26 weeks tomorrow so still have 14 weeks to go, which is good as we have done strawberry float all in preparation.

If it helps, we'd done bugger all by then, either. It just falls into place. It's mainly shopping for baby stuff, which the mums are hardwired to want to do (no sexism: they literally need to do it), and a bit of decorating, which was pretty easy*.

* The father in law did it. So admittedly me saying it's easy is a bit like Lagamorph saying he can't understand why people bitch about the cost of living.

It's an instinct that harkens back to prehistoric times, when expectant cavewomen would make the long journey across the savannah in search of Babies R Us.
