I've got a lovely glass of dry white on the go at the moment; it's helping me through my overtime immensely.

I only give the best. I'm not just going to sit here and whack something out half-cocked

I didn't know this was a thing but have stopped drinking alcohol for a few weeks in leadup to an ultramarathon I just did. I have another in mid-November so won't be drinking again until after that.

I finally managed to secure a bag of weed after months of being straight so that will carry through me most of October.

I don't have room in my fridge for any largers sadly as it is full of the loo roll I've been panic buying

So I did it! Along with keto and I'm going to keep it up until next weekend or maybe a week after. The first three days it took a bit of getting used to but then I got into a rhythm. At times I developed a zen like attitude to drink and bad food and I feel much freer, but I am looking forward to having a nice slice of bread.

I found not drinking really helps with sleep, and my general mental health. How did you find it?

I did this last year and strawberry floating hated it.

I'll agree not drinking is better for you, but by social life is going to pubs to chat gooseberry fool to friends or strangers so not drinking basically leaves me with no social side.

It's what has hurt most about lockdown is I can't sit at a bar and find myself chatting with people about any and everything.

In all I did 5 weeks. Sure the first few days it was weird where I was thinking about having a drink in the evening and kind of mentally craving it, but not to an addict level, just that routine which you miss. But soon after I felt much better for it. Even having a couple of drinks and I end up writing the evening off. Like you Curls I did sleep much better, not waking up at all in the night. But also losing lockdown weight helped me feel a tad more optimistic because I could see and feel improvements.

Yeah, going out drinking is very much a social thing to do so I can see how avoiding the pub can leave you feeling isolated. Before the second lockdown my brother kept inviting me over but I declined because I didn't want the temptation of normal food and having a drink. But if you feel you can resist the drinking side pubs and bars do often have no-alcohol beers promotions so if you were to do it again at least you can be in the same environment and still meet people.

Social is part of it, my other thing is I really really enjoy good beer, trying epic craft beers is pretty much a hobby so dropping that sucks, there are alcohol free options but most pubs don’t have the good alcohol free options so if you are after good beer your strawberry floated.
