Its a wash and cut where they spend 45mins and sometimes longer, my last cut took an hour. All I ask is for a number 2 back/sides with a taper down to a 1 on the edges. With a tidy up/trim of the top.
But they cut your hair perfectly ensuring that it grows out very nicely in the right directions. I noticed that my hair remains looking good and easy to manage even after 6 weeks! Whereas before when I went to barbers that charged £15-20 I had to keep going back every 3 weeks and even that was a push, as by the 3 week mark it didn't look good.

To be honest I was just curious why places charged so much so I decided to give them a try and now I can't go back to a normal barber shop. Tbh for me its working out ok...£50 every 6weeks compared to £20 every 2.5-3 weeks.

N1FFF goes to the magic barbers, where they make your haircut last longer. That's where the markup comes from.

Can I ask N1FFF, would you like some magic beans? I'm having a sale.

You don't want to go to France for a haircut then. They charge British people €100 for haircuts like that and they only last between 1-2 weeks.

Is it at least one of those awful pretentious barbershops that gives you a pint while they cut it

Please can you post a pic of yourself? I'm fascinated to know what you look like. I've built quite the mental picture in my head. :shifty:

Just google London top 10 barbers...although not all are good on that list.
I float between Joe & Co in Soho (my fave barber shop) or Murdock which have a few in London (been to Soho and Shoreditch ones). I also tried Ruffians once in Covent Garden, they originate from Edinburgh but have several in London now, but I didn't quite like it as they completed my haircut in less than half an hour and was the most expensive I paid. But the head massage blew me away!

Just posted the details up there. Not really they are very laid back and you help yourself to a beer if you want. But like a lot of places they make you a coffee too. I actually like that they are laid back and cool, not pretentious feeling.

And what enchantment do they use on their clippers to make their short back & sides last longer than a cheaper barber?

Had an image in my mind of what to expect of those barbers and was not disappointed on clicking through!

They just take their time to make sure its been done properly, blended with the top to ensure it grows out in the correct way. However at one of the barbers he uses scissors mostly rather than clippers and it looks so clean and smooth with just the right amount of fade/taper.
i.e. at a cheaper barber one time the left the back/top of my hair too long, so when I put wax in my hair I had to put extra on the top and push it down. Really they should have the length decrease towards the back...its complicated but these guys know what they are doing at £50.

Honestly if you are down visiting I highly recommend booking yourself in at one of these places. I would recommend the first one. I normally go in the middle and select a senior stylist rather than a stylist or a lead stylist.

I could get my hair cut every single week and still spend far less on haircuts than you.

I searched the website you linked and cross-referenced the styles that they offer with your description. Be honest, is this the haircut you paid £55 for?

Are you seriously suggesting I go to London and pay £53 for this

They give you a haircut that suits you so in the initial consultation I chose something more classic and natural looking.

You can decide what look you want during the consultation. They will help you decide on something that works best for your hair type and the shape of your face. Also its not only about how it looks right after, that haircut will look nearly just as good 6 weeks down the line.

Honestly there is no harm in giving them a go if you are down in London. Why not and see the difference for yourself :D
