I italicised the wrong word, but otherwise don't know how I could have phrased it any more clearly or succinctly.

My advice was, he's in a broken relationship (or was in one...) that isn't working over a distance of 65 miles. He clearly suspects that closing that gap, or making the distance relationship work, would be the answer.

I'm saying I don't think that would be the case, and that being much geographically closer would make the existing problems worse, rather than solve them.

It's hard as strawberry float reading your advice/replies, guys, but I can see your points.

I have this real, horrible, sinking sensation that you might be right, so walk away, in my heart. Yet I have a 'but what if we talk and sort this gooseberry fool out?' feeling in my head. I actually feel sick right now....

Well my ex wife is kicking up a fuss. It was good until it lasted, however.

If it wasn't for my kids, I would tell her to strawberry float off completely.

Well, just checking on facebook over lunch and another of my former fancythings is preggo.

I last went out with her about 3 months ago, she asked to see me again soon, I said sure thing and never got back to her. Dodged a bullet.

Im sure Stephen uses this thread to gain advice on relationships from time to time. It looks like a match made in heaven. I hope they spend many happy years together. Everyone who has contributed to this thread, give yourself a big pat on the back. Well gone fellow GRacadians.

But all we did was tell Stephen to broom him? And to gooseberry fool on his tits. And be careful of Skarjo.

It was great - probably the best part of the relationship, TBH. Stuff used to get pretty filthy when we'd meet up, and we'd be on the phone a lot in between.

I moved up to Newcastle to live with her and got bored pretty quickly - I'd have been high-tailing it back to the Midlands if I didn't have some great, sociable colleagues, was 28 and living in one of the UK's great party cities. That probably helped paper over the cracks at home, if I'm honest.

Based on that, Gandalf, my advice would be, if you're struggling to make it work and having doubts now, those little problems will be magnified when you are closer. It might feel like living closer would solve the problems: I reckon it'd exacerbate them. I think you're better off out.

My current gf lives 150 miles away. Been seeing each other for nearly a year...been on holidays. When we see each other it's normally for a week or so, it's gooseberry fool when she has to leave, leaves me right down in the dumps.

I'm moving down there later this year (like October time) I've had these thoughts that it could get boring, but the. I remember she loves xbox and likes football too  plus she is a nurse so her shift patterns mean we won't see each other sometimes for a few days at a time.

Really nervous about it, but so excited at the same time.
