Kids. As I have zero feelings towards her I'm able to view her current predicament with a level of detached aloofness. All bitterness I held has long since gone. Last year was a war of attrition between us, where everyone suffered. Now we get on, help out with the kids and I've got no stress. She may try and stir gooseberry fool, but it doesn't work any more.

Good to hear, it isn't nice for kids when your parents hate each other.

Hey guys I have not been murdered lol
Was really nervous meeting someone for the first time yesterday but it went well. Had a few drinks and hung out in town.
But tbh I dunno if it was supposed to be a date or not. We both said we were after mates to hang out with and not dating but when we got close to meeting up he told me he was really looking forward to meeting me and couldn't wait etc sending me loads of hugs and smilie faces etc.
This confused me as I thought it was suppose to be just a meet up as mates...and that I wasn't going to get analysed by him to be a potential partner.

When we met up though it just seemed like a normal meet up with my straight mates. Drinks chat etc. All the excitement from his texts were not there, like he just seemed very normal and relaxed.

He even bumped into some of his mates who joined us for a few drinks etc. But i felt a bit uncomfortable with his mates coz they were like really stereotypical gay but with him it was alright.

anyway i hope i hear back from him coz he was quite cute but i dunno c what happens.

Someone got friendzoned. If you don't need a friend move on, sounds like he may be keeping his options open. He don't need no man.

aw thats what my gut feeling tells me too even though I don't want to believe it (so sad :/ lol)...he must have been excited to meet me but as soon as he got his first glance he probably decided that I wasn't what he thought i was in real life lol and was disappointed. At least I have finally been out on a date kinda thing though...done something new.

Sorry I know that was really harsh but we've all been in that situation at some point I'd imagine.

no that is fine. At the end of the day everyone has their own type. Just because I am probably not his type doesn't mean I won't be someone else's or that I am really gooseberry fool lol.
Even though its lowered my self confidence a bit...its all experience...nothing goes perfect first time round.

Ok, because he wasnt buzzing his tits off when you met him you assume he doesnt like you?

Have you actually asked him if he wants to meet again?

He probably picked up that you were new and nervous which was why he was being extra nice to you in texts. You cant just have people on the internet tell you whether some random guy we've never met likes you or not.

If you like him, ask to meet again. If you dont like him, dont ask to meet again. Why are you taking what a bunch of strangers say as gospel?

Your biggest mistake is listening to Ad7. Top tip - never listen to Ad7.

Then maybe it's a good thing, you may be looking at the situation from the wrong angle, be friends, it may lead to more, in the long run you may have found a new group of people to chill with.

I'm with AD7 on this one.

Any date, that at some point has the other party's mates involved, is a gooseberry fool date. Sounds like he texted them as a "come save me!" get out. This alongside his sangfroid makes it appear like he wasn't into you. Also your gut instinct tells you this. Don't message him.

If Falsey thinks this is a regular date then I feel sorry for Falsey. Well, I do anyway, but that's a whole different thing ;)
