Agreed. Jaime undergoes a transformation as the truth about his kingslaying is revealed and his honesty about himself and his weakened position after losing his hand. For me, his rejection of Cersei coupled with his contempt for the Freys is his final redemption. Cersei has had no such redemption and looks set to become even more of a bitch. Her best chance at being a decent character died with her uncle. He was her only adviser of any worth who was brave enough to challenge her.

Kinda disappointing news about Stoneheart. Surprised they omitted that character.

And Jaime Lannister might be my favourite character in the series.

Rereading Storm of Swords at the moment has cemented Jaime as my favourite character. Can anyone actually see him surviving the series though? :( The happiest ending I can realistically envision him getting is leading/rebuilding the Night's Watch.

I think he'll either be reconciled with or killed by Tyrion. I also think the North will forgive him somewhat as he'll be heavily involved in aiding their vengeance on the Freys

On Jaime - would love to see him end up the whole thing as Lord Commander of the Nights Watch or something. Go truly honourable.

But let's be honest (ADWD spoiler) he may well just get hung by Stoneheart at the beginning of TWOW

My hopeful theory? on Jamie is that with a gold hand he could wield the flaming sword and could be azor reborn. Would mean that he and Cersie aren't Tywins kids thus being Targaryean (Mad king had his way with his wife on their wedding night) and only Tyrion is his true son, as alluded to by his aunt... she could mean by nature but I read it as by blood. Only downside to this is Cersie would some how factor into it, hopefully he stabs her with oathkeeper to flame on. In my happy head Jon snow gets the other half of Ice and [massive twist] is also azor by being Raegar offspring or something. Dany also being Azor, three headed dragon, three headed Azor Ahai.

SOS finished. This line from Littlefinger made me burst out laughing, knowing what was about to happen:

(To Lysa)- "I swear, I shall never leave your side again, for as long as we both shall live."

Going to do the combined FFC/DWD reading order for my reread of those. I imagine that would improve DWD somewhat.

So apparently GRRM's UK publisher is saying on Twitter she doesn't expect TWOW to be out until 2016.

They're filming the Daznak's Pit scene from ADWD now in Spain. Spot the major book deviations from these set photos:

FFS! You've had over four years to write the new book George! Now we're left with huge deviations and I'm not sure if I want to watch the show anymore, despite it's excellence.

It was already hinted at that Tyrion would ally himself to Dany but that's a massive deviation and I don't like it.

 :fp: if this is true!

And why Mormont is there?! Are they ignoring the so called true heir storyline where we see Mormont siding with?

Another drastic change:

Instead of (FFC) Jaime saving The Riverlands singlehandedly, he's off to Dorne.

Are you confusing Jorah with (DWD) Jon Connington? Even in the book Jorah's with Tyrion.

Does this mean there will be no Jon Connington and Aegon? (DWD spoiler)

Currently reading A Clash of Kings, and one thing that really stuck out is how much better Renly is characterised compared to the show, I was also surprised to see that his homosexuality is only subtly and briefly hinted at in the books. Don't get me wrong, I have no problems with the character being explicitly gay, but to make it basically his only characteristic is not only poor writing but actually quite anti-progressive in terms of a gay character. They also seemed to hugely miss the significance of him supposedly being Robert's double.

The show lacks nuance.

There's been no casting news about them so they've probably been cut which might be a spoiler for how important they are in the overall narrative. :( Also probably cut- Victarion, Euron, Arianne, Quentyn, Wyman Manderley, Alys Karstark, Val etc etc.

Wouldn't say they were cut just yet, everyone thought the Reeds were cut when they didn't turn up in season 2.

They turn up late enough in the books as it is. Saving them for the penultimate season doesn't give them much time.

The plot line with Victorion with the supposedly dragon taming horn seems to be quite integral to the future plot of the books. They cannot cut that, can they?

I reread DWD recently and Moquorro seems to be hinting quite heavily that Victarion is going to die, a hint Victarion being the dumb viking he is doesn't pick up on. Victarion's real purpose in the larger picture might just be to give Dany a fleet of ships upon his death.

In the show they invented a scene where Daario claims he seized something like 97 Meerenese ships. Whatever the number is, someone on Reddit pointed out it's the same number of ships in Victarion's fleet.
